Bottom surgery isnt a thing for minors but puberty blockers, top surgery and and list of other "treatments" are available to people under 18 as long as they show signs of puberty. This needs to be nation wide laws, we also need to be sending people to lengthy therapy before just saying theyre trans and get them into surgery. We dont even allow people to get a permanent tattoo until theyre 18, only as young as 16 with parental consent and making sure the child is well informed. Hell speaking of tattoos, do you know how many people have gotten tattoos and later regretted it? Tattoos can at least be covered or removed though, genital mutilation and literal castration is not reversible👌🏼👍🏼

Unless, you know, they're doing what's best for the minors in question. Every major medical and scientific body on the planet supports gender affirming care, which, for minors, starts with therapy to make sure the person actually IS trans, and possibly puberty blockers, which is reversible for the 3% who regret transitioning (note that most of that 3% regret it because of how others treat them, not because they weren't actually trans) Find me an ethical, medical or scientific reason to delay gender affirming care and I'll listen. In the meantime, I'm not going to support someone who is trying to pass legislation that is literally going to result in the deaths of children because they need you to be angry and afraid.

Many children (80-95%) who show gender dysphoria before puberty do not continue to do so during and after pubertal changes occur. This is one of the many reasons why banning “gender-affirming” services until the age of consent is the most common sense thing to do.

Out of all of the posts I’ve seen only two people are arguing that children be allowed to take drugs and have surgery to transition. This is a great representation of all of Canada. The vast majority throughout human history including doctors know that it best for children to go through natural phases of their lives without medical intervention when it can be avoided. We must protect minorities but not at the expense of the majority. Above all a parent is the most ferocious animal if you try to mess with there children.

I’m trans and hearing this is a breath of fresh air. I was wondering where she stood on trans adults like me. I don’t have kids and I’ll never have kids, so the whole “trans kids” thing is something that doesn’t really concern me. But here’s how I see it. Kids that haven’t reached puberty yet can’t be trans. (In my experience) I didn’t start feeling like something was off until I was 12. But if you have a 15-17 year old who’s dead set on getting on hormones, they should have safe access to that, after they’ve talked to a counsellor or a therapist. Cause if they’re dead set on making the change, they’ll get their medication from the street if their parents aren’t doing anything to acknowledge their mental health. Is that a better alternative? If they are 15-17, chances are they’re kicked out by their parents for being trans anyway. As far as life altering operations go like SRS, you should have to be 18. That’s a huge decision even for 18, any age. I’m 33 and I don’t think I’m ever going to get it. I like being able to write my name in the snow.
