Since NATO was formed in 1949, Canada who is founding member has never met it's 2% GDP.. Other countries also haven't met it GDP target. Countries who haven't met it's target should be booted from NATO.

This 2% NATO spending does not magically produce a formidible military. If Canada had absolutely no army at all, but still met NATO's 2% GDP military spending mandate, would we have an adequate military? This all about simply about spending money on NATO's preferred military suppliers. By NATO conditions, Canada does not require a military at all, but just 2% of it's GDP to be spent on military supplies. If NATO's standards were for actual defense, NATO would demand troop strength, training standards, tanks, aircraft and naval materiel quotas for their members. Hence, NATO's 2% requirement is so STUPID!

There would be enough taxpayer money to strengthen our military and defense if the Lib / NDP would stop wasting and hiding it as well as stop giving it away to other countries in such great amounts. Newfoundland and Labrador make equalization payments , and they are a definite “have not” province, doesn’t matter who is in charge. Not from there but lived there for 9 years and you can see the effects of “equalization “ first hand. Quebec and Ontario collect the most equalization than any other provinces and they are definitely “have” provinces.

It's possible to put nation first, while having fair trade relations. Trump increases tariffs for countries that wants to inject their interested in the American economy. Obviously Trump will look at American interests first. It seems that aside from Putin, and a few others (that everyone refers to as commies), Trump is standing out as someone who expects his country to have both sovereignty and autonomy. What Trump may not see, or want, is the end of a unipolar world. That is where he highly differs from Putin (for example).
