この「青春の輝き」はリチャード・カーペンターがアルバート・ハモンドに、カレンのために1曲作ってくれと頼んで出来た名曲です。 1976年カーペンターズ7枚目のアルバム「見つめあう恋」のB面に収録されていた曲です。意外なことに、当時はヒットに恵まれなかったことです。私は20年間、長いことこの経緯は知りませんでした。それが、1996年テレビドラマの主題歌に使われて若い世代の間で大ヒットしていたことは意外でした。次世代の人たちにまでカーペンターズの魅力が受け継がれた訳ですからね。 記憶に新しいのは、2018年カーペンターズデビュー50周年ということで、ザ・ビートルズファンでもあったリチャード・カーペンターがアビーロードスタジオで「ロイヤルフィルハーモニー管弦楽団」で新たなアレンジを加えた伴奏によるＣＤレコード「カーペンターズウィズロイヤルフィルハーモニー管弦楽団」を発売したことですね。
