Ginastera really brings out the extent of how violent strings can sound especially in the fist and last movements

20:53 to 21:00 sounds different from what's printed. In fact every time that theme appears it's printed differently. Is this a different version? I never even knew another version of the last movement existed!

We play the revised (1968) version. I heard that the composer was adamant that the original version was discarded, as it contained some "folkloristic" sections, which he no longer tolerated in his later compositional style.

The theme at 23:29 seems extremely familiar to me. Is it from Bartók or another Ginastera work?
@sneddypie4 жыл бұрын
it indeed does sound like something bartok would write

This whole movement is a version of the finale to Concerto for Strings, so they share themes in that sense!

Wait a second, isn't this theme (15:15) the same as the one that opens his Concerto for Strings?
@peenut1694 жыл бұрын
The Concerto for Strings is basically a rearranged version of the quartet. Ginastera took out the first movement and switched the places of the latter four.

It shares lots of material with the Harp Concerto.

An exciting piece - even more so in Ginastera's transcription of it, the Concerto for Strings.

Its like heavy metal
@johnoldland78413 жыл бұрын
Heavy metal was influenced by certain heavy rock of ~1970 such as Fripp and they were inspired by Bartok quartets as was Ginastera
