I don't understand why people trippin on Q. First of all, there is no "version" of this song. It's called sampling. Sampling is taking a piece of someone else's work that inspires and helps you create something new. The sampling wasn't done by Q either, it was done by his producer, who loves this group and was inspired by their music. They both love the band and used the bands skilled instrument playing as an instrument to lead their own instrumentation.
@alanbarrese4569 жыл бұрын
Thankfully you get it man, not many people do.
@jasonjohnson14049 жыл бұрын
jeremiah13131331 I disagree. I get it great artists steal. I have sampled and I approve of sampling in concept, but when you stoop to this level to just take the main riff or hook of a song and then throw a beat on top to call it your song it isn't artistry, it's laziness. Take someone like DJ Shadow or even J Dilla who cuts it up or uses unrecognizably small snippets. They take a piece and make it their own. I'd call this theft, but I would hope they paid Chromatics for the use of the riff. But even then it is just pissing on a beautiful work. Is it still art if I make a copy of Michaelangelo's Venus and put huge tits on her and call it my mine? Some would say yes, but I call bullshit on this.
@SFK3609 жыл бұрын
Jason Johnson Of course they got paid. Could easily get sued for appropriation if not.

Fuck, it's been YEARS since I've listened to this song. It always brings me back to when I was in high school. Me and best friend had just stopped talking and it was such a rough time because that's when my mental health started going downhill. I stopped talking to him because I didn't want to bring him down with me. Fast forward a couple years later we've tried to reconnected on 3 occasions but it just never worked. We would always fall back into the state of losing touch. I listen to this song and think of him because he was one of the people that I genuinely loved on the this earth, not in a romantic way might I add. The last time I spoke with him was 6 years ago. I always try to reach out to him via facebook but he was never one to be on social media. The last I heard, he's having a baby and it breaks my heart to really not be a part of his life anymore. Hopefully one day, we will get the timing right.
