In less than three weeks, Khanyisa is turning four years old! To celebrate her fourth birthday, we’re having a very special giveaway. We’re giving away four of Khanyisa’s blankets to four lucky foster parents.

Which blankets are we giving away?
💚 Two South African flag blankets made by Nita Smith and her team of knitters - Audrey Neeser, Angela de Jager, and Kieran Rimmer.
💚 Two pre-loved colourful blankets made by Whimsical Collection.
Nita Smith and her team were kind enough to knit the two South African flag blankets especially for Khanyisa’s fourth birthday. They’re big enough to cover her one tonne body! The team was formerly part of the organisation Warriors for Africa’s Wildlife, and though WAW is no longer active, Nita and her team still regularly send us Little Mhambi’s to help us raise funds. WAW’s blankets have kept orphans warm for years, and you’ve likely seen Khanyisa in one of their blankets before.
The two Whimsical Collection blankets may look familiar to you. Khanyisa spent much of her time covered in these blankets when she was small, and they also kept Fenya warm during the brief time she spent with us. The blankets have been through a lot - muddy play sessions, runs through the bush, and naps next to Lammie and Nungu. Whimsical Collection is kindly letting us use the blankets for Khanyisa’s birthday giveaway.

I saw the live video this weekend, and heard Adine mention that if a orphan is found on the reserve or other area close by, you'll still take it in. That was good news to hear. Khanynsia is not only a survivor, she is a inspiration. Her blanket reflects her heart. When I see this past video, I again realize how weak she was. She needed alot of rest periods, and now she's capable of going miles in the bush every day. She is a champion.

Two ways of looking at her blankets. Beautiful in a way that she was found, rescued & given the chance to show them off. Then there’s the ugly way, where she was caught in a snare because of selfish, evil men that set up the snare for their own personal gain. That should have NEVER happened. That's a wonderful giveaway! My granddaughter would put little blankets on our elderly Shih Tzu and call her "Khanysia" all day! I've always loved her blanket. Do you know the children's book "Elmer the Elephant" about an elephant with a naturally occurring patchwork quilt skin? He paints himself grey to fit in with the other elephants, but realizes he likes being himself. Seeing Khanyisa in the blanket always reminds me of that story. 😊

It was Zindoga, but i agree with you about their wariness about the Zebra markings, It has often struck me that when the ellies chase away the impala, part of it is for fun, but part is to drive off animals who are attractive to predators, so that in turn the ellies won't be pestered by the predators.
