i know it's an older video but gosh darn those cuts looked AWESOME at the beginning. beastly piece. the flex is necessary for that cutting prowess, being so thin. It's like a 2011 STI race-gun as a sword! I only own old swords and I feel pretty bad about using them for cutting practice, apologizing to the officers in my head lol. Reckon you've convinced me to buy a modern-made sword! have a good day brother

Thanks for this video. That flex demo at about 2:56 is something I was looking for to compare with a sword I've ordered from a local smith. I've always wondered how its flexing would compare with something already established to be well made like albion and you provided me with a great visual answer. Very nice and thorough video. Congratulations.

I musta say this sword (princepe) and the Alexandria are based upon the Harriet dean sword and the sister words, given as gifts in the late medieval period and rediscovered at an auction house after going missing for 72 years.

I wasn't aware of that..The information I got came directly off of the Albion website and it says the Castillion Group from the Dordogne River

Albions are not hand forged, they are cut out of near perfectly homogeneous carbon steal sheets and then honed into shape.

@50 Stitches Steel, does the Principe sap down at the tip when you hold it horizontally? This method I use to measure if a sword is too flexible for my taste. Could you please check and reply - I can't find this exact information online and I'm in doubt whether to buy a Principe. Thanks in advance!
@50StichesSteel4 жыл бұрын
Did you mean sag? If so, no this doesn't sag at the tip when held horizontal. However if you seen the 4x4 posts I was cutting off of in the video, I did mess up a thrust with my full body weight behind it and went into the board. The tip took a slight bend set. Nothing bad though. I took a rag and hammer and within 5 light strikes it went right back to true and straight. I would considered that pretty much a worst case scenario and it did very little damage considering how hard I thrusted into a solid 4x4 hardwood post....You wont be disappointed with this sword IMO

I'm posting this on almost every review where an 18c is being reviewed. I HATE type 18c blades ... I don't care who makes em!! Albion, DSA, RK ... doesn't matter. Take a look at this same guy's video where he takes a huge chunk outa the blade simply by hitting a small piece or armor or sword (sorry ... can't remember exactly what he hit). Anybody ever wondered why there are so many examples of this type that exist in such pristine shape?? It's because the design was a fad ... a bad one!! Because in actual war this blade is next to useless!! It's too thin ... too wide ... and takes WAY TOO MUCH damage after just one collision. Therefore once REAL soldiers realized this they got one made and then they hung it over the mantle. Now today groups like the HEMA cutting crowd have rediscovered this travesty of a sword design and found WOW it cuts through tatami mats like a hot knife through butter ... and think it's the best sword design EVER!! For crying out loud even Cold Steel made one ... and ... guess what they called it? A COMPETITION CUTTER ... GO FIG!! The market has so distorted the importance of this design ... I'm so f@#king sick of it!! Alrighty ... off the soap box. Type 18c fanboys ... have at. Pray you never get into an actual fight.

Yeah this is definitley a specialized sword made ONLY for cutting competitions and completely unarmored enemies... I also wouldn't choose this sword for battle. I would choose something skinnier, thicker and pointier

Now you need to start hema to better your cutting and overall handling/footwork :) such a blade deserves it :) Look at schola gladiatoria or blood and iron channels for pointers for how to move, hold and cut with the longsword if you haven't already :) You already are aware of the blade enough to twirl a sharp...you will learn fast :)
