There is something relaxing and peaceful in your playing Mr. Albrecht... Listening to something like this makes me feel sentimental. In a few days I will play my final exam, my diploma in music school, and then give up oboe probably for ever. Hearing this, cheers me up a bit, because even though I chose a different path than playing oboe in my future, thanks to videos like this, a small part of a beautiful sound of this instrument will always remind me that I was able to make astonishing music like that once. I think it’s the way Herr Mayer can make even the softest notes shimmer like gossamer… Anyway, between this guy, the movie Liz and the Bluebird, and the simplified youth-oriented instruments sone manufacturers are creating, it has never been easier or more appealing to take up the oboe, King of Woodwinds. It has also never been easy…
