jesus, everyone giving this review such a hard time simply because alex didn't like it. he's entitled to his opinion; if he didn't like the direction coldplay took on this album, that's completely fine. i'm a huge coldplay fan and yet i also felt very underwhelmed by this album (except coloratura), despite enjoying most of the rest of coldplay's more pop-based output throughout the 2010s. i just found this record fairly forgettable in comparison. alex gave completely fair criticisms throughout this review, yet people decide to give it shit because he didn't like it. anyone is allowed to have their own opinions on the album, and if you liked it then that's understandable. but don't dismiss this review simply because it wasn't for him. (also yessss they NEED to bring back bloodless revolution someday i hold up hope)

I'm a longtime Coldplay fan since circa 2003 and your reactions and thoughts were eerily like my own, right down to the Don Quixote moment. This was sadly the first Coldplay album I couldn't actually sit through, and I even skipped certain tracks partway through. I've since gone back and listened again fully to judge the album properly, but it's only losing the very little appeal it had. A shame. Coloratura has glimpses of the interesting things they could be doing. Instead they pretty much opted for AHFOD 2.0, only even blander this time round. Good job on this video!

Idk why people are giving you such a hard time for this review. Listen, Coldplay are completely capable of making great songs like Coloratura, Arabesque, or some of the old ones, but for some reason they (or just Chris) decide not to do so to apply to the masses, to get more fame, to get quick buck, we may never know. It's a shame, because Chris, Jon, Guy and Will work really really good as a band, and are capable of producing great material, but idk, something feels off of them recently.

They decide not to do “good songs”? Lol
@willgreen62893 жыл бұрын
How do you know that is why they are doing what they are doing? I dont think this is their best overall. It is Coldplay pop. Its not Rush of Blood to the Head or Everyday Life (which contrary to some of the people who follow this guy I think if one of the best overall albums I have ever heard). Even with that being said, I think Human Heart and Coloratura are some of the best Coldplay has ever put out. Still, my point being that Coldplay is doing pop. They have a variety of styles. Maybe the last album was kinda like political anger and the one before was unicorns and rainbows and the one before was breakup sadness and reflection and this one is just back to pop. Maybe this is where they wanted to be now and did it on purpose. You know the next one won't be exactly the same feel and type of music. They dont reproduce albums like formulaic corporate machines like so many these days do. They do what they want to ... and guess what?! I actually like this album. I always like everything Coldplay does LOLOL.
@JamesMurphy19843 жыл бұрын
@@artrojas4732 they’re experimenting. We think they aren’t good songs because it’s subjective. Higher Power & My Universe already have 115m listens each that’s more than nearly all of Everyday Life. It doesn’t make it shit. It means they’ve appealed to a larger audience and not our specific taste.
@JamesMurphy19843 жыл бұрын
@@benjamindavis4974 this is the problem. Maybe they produce the pop stuff so they can experiment a bit with everyday life and make whatever tracks they want. Man, i really wanted to like this based on how intriguing some of the snippets sounded on the Overtura trailer (Infinity Sign in particular) as well as Coloratura being as good as it is but alas, this ended up just being a collection of incredibly mediocre and bland pop songs. I guess that's a disadvantage of getting Selena Gomez and BTS on your album huh. That said though, Humankind is a bop and even though i don't love it, i appreciate Infinity Sign for what it is. Hopefully with Vol. 2 (if that even happens), they will deliver more of what Coloratura promised and less disposable pop.

I think that coldplay are in a new place and people are upset by that because we all love that chris martin being vulnerable and honest on parachutes and a rush of blood to the head. Maybe he has ran out of things to say. I thought it was a creative album with the different planets I thought that was really cool, however the singles were not good which normally is the opposite for coldplay albums. Coloratura is decent but is still quite glossy. Their first two albu.s won't be peaked nor should they try to. All we want from a coldplay album is honesty and something coming from a vulnerable place. For their last few albums have been too safe and that just doesn't work for them. Take my universe for example. I think that was a commercial move and perhaps a smart one if that's their intention, if that's what they want to achieve from their platform then I wish them well.

All those crying for Rock era wake up its 2021 and your rock era has gone, believe it and stop weeping over it. Just because a song has pop elements doesn't make it bad. Don't know why you guys are unnecessarily going harsh on this one.

There's still amazing rock coming out today, so I'm not sure what you mean. In the era of online streaming and digital releases, we're beyond the Billboard charts being the sole spotlight on commercial music.

Coldplay began as an alt-rock/britpop band in the 90s. They have strayed so far from their roots to try and stay relevant. Surely they have enough money by now? I don't know why they even call themselves a band anymore. It's the Chris Martin show. He should go solo then he can do whatever he wants with Max Martin, BTS, and Selena Gomez.

Everyone has the right to their opinion but so much hate for Coldplay has been a staple from “fans” throughout the years. In my opinion Everyday Life was their weakest album but even then they don’t really have a bad one to be honest. This album is really good, it’s time you clowns realize that pop/alternative is the new genre they are in now… There’s a reason hip hop and pop are the two biggest genres right now and have been for years now. On top of that no one is doing what Coldplay is doing with Music Of The Spheres… 7.5/10

@@moonillusions832 Finally glad I share this opinion with someone. I LOVE A Head Full of Dreams and it is definitely my favourite Coldplay album. I get why people don’t like AHFOD and at the end of the day music will always be subjective but man MOTS was a major step down.

Not entirely sure why you chose to review an album when a) you look half asleep and b) you don't seem to like Coldplay. It would be like me listening to an Eminem album when I hate Eminem and know it would be shit. Waste of your time. Music of the Spheres is terrific, by the way...and there's nothing wrong with going "pop" now and again. ..

"you don't seem to like Coldplay"? I said that Parachutes is my favorite album. I love Viva, and I think Rush and X&Y are solid too. Not sure where you're getting that from. Glad you enjoy the new album, I wish I could as well.

I would like to see this guy put out an album so that we can shit all over it! I love how people that have never created anything in their life find it so easy to piss all over someone else's work. Like it or hate it, Coldplay did something that you will never ever be able to do. Coldplay's worst song is better than anything that you will ever do.

Ah yes the most overused, useless type of argument, the “you try doing it, I bet you can’t do any better” argument. Everyone has free right to judge a creation whether they can create it or not, you don’t have to be a chef in order to determine whether the food taste good or tastes like crap, So shut the hell up

@Karl Davis jesus christ you're incredibly petty lol. listeners have the absolute right to criticize an album, regardless of whether they're musically talented or not. it's all dependent on musical taste; if he didn't like it, that's fine, it just isn't for him. he didn't at all endlessly shit on the album throughout this review unlike some people
