small correction, a Star is Born came after Joanne. Cheek to Cheek is still a worthwhile listen as it really demonstrates Gaga's vocals. I suggest Steven to watch a Star is Born, the movie, last as its not actually one of Gaga's studio albums.

Stefanstreubel What lmao, it really is. In the 2010’s, instrumentally, it’s one of the most interesting albums out of all the years. It’s crazy, especially because it brought EDM into the mainstream before it even became massively mainstream. She’s done things before a lot of people have. Like this album was being written 2 years ago, before this retro sound even started getting popular.

"Sine from Above" hits me as a reflection on youth (Gaga- Childhood, Elton- Living it up in your 20s); where we start, how we come into our own, and how quickly life all at once seems to pass us by. The more I listen to the track, I feel like the chaotic music at the end is someone's life flashing before their eyes. I'm probably wrong, but we're all friends here. ;)

For me this album mixes the Fame Monster and ARTPOP together. If you want heavy EDM where she goes crazy ARTPOP is that album. For Chromatica she says it’s to “dance through the pain” and then ARTPOP was “her pain through electronic music” so I think these 2 albums really connect

The great thing about Gaga is that each album is very, very distinct and unique from the others. Makes it more interesting for fans and casual listeners alike.
@theyoungjourney4 жыл бұрын
Honestly all of her albums r bout emotions, her first album is about wanting to be famous, her second album is about how the fame can be scary Nd corrupting to people, the 3rd is bout accepting ur flaws Nd being ur tru self, the 4th is about the emergence of emotions thru art & pop Nd combination of her most experimental music, the 5th album is about pain Nd coming to terms wit past pain Nd present pain Nd growing from it along wit sum folk Nd country kick to it, then u have Chromatica which is all concepts in one wrapped up in nice deep lyrics yet groovy beat drops👌🏽

lmao at the blatant winking at vogue on Babylon (which is fine, because Madonna didn't invent voguing either!) Shout out to Gaga's ballroom voice
@jk-si2dc4 жыл бұрын
@@1bwashI don't think she's(Gaga) crapping Madonna. If you pay attention to the lyrics she's talking about the gossips and the way people pit her and Madonna, that's why the song kinda sounds like vogue.
@MsSera214 жыл бұрын
@@1bwash No, this isn't a dig at Madonna at all! I think she was groundbreaking (and Vogue is possibly the superior song?) but I think it's funny because of the past controversy that on this track Gaga's like, 'yes this sounds like vogue, deal with it'. In a nice way; she's very much building on Madonna's legacy . (And the legacy of ball culture etc). (And agree about the difference between the particular sound of that song and voguing itself, I was not clear)

I think people compare her to Madonna whenever she does that “talk-singing” over a beat. But I actually think Babylon sounds more like Supermodel by RuPaul

Thank you for this fantastic review! I’ve watched you a couple times but I’m subscribing now, not because I’m a Gaga “stan” but because you did a very thoughtful & articulate review. Frankly I think you are filling a void left by a certain other You tuber who I used to watch for his music reviews but he quit doing music reviews. So thanks!! A bit of advice- since you aren’t familiar with Gaga’s full discography, I’m not sure I’d recommend doing it backwards. I think you should do it in chronological order to see her evolution. If you DO go backwards, please include A Star is Born soundtrack, and be aware that both the soundtrack & the Joanne album are MUCH different than her pop music (in a great way). 😃❤️

When you're dealing with a proven music genius like Gaga, everything she touches turn to gold and deserves the closest attention. Unforunately she is so creative, so complex and so ahead of her time that she tends to divide and confuse.
