The whole album is the perfect blend of classic Owl City sounds, rock, and epic orchestral sounds. And the writing is the same. Still whimsical, but more mature. He's storytelling from his own life and allegorically and he's connecting it to his faith and values in a way that makes everything grander than they first appear. Really uplifting in every way possible.

I do love that he has been storytelling his own life more and including his values. Especially because he made fireflies how it was because people didn't want to hear about his religion but he didn't want it to be the opposite, so he made a song with no real big meaning, people could take it how they wanted. I'm glad he's making music that he wants to and that he's enjoying it and just doing what he loves.

I love the song as well. Something kinda random is the name "sons of Thunder" is actually from the Bible. 2 of Jesus' disciples were brothers named James and John. Its something i realize many might not realize but it brings on a whole new meaning for me as a Christian. His songs are just layered with metaphors and it blows me away.

I remember when I was like 18 or so I was working and I heard Owl City " Salt water room." and I paused, and was like omgoodness who sings this song. I need this song in my life. I found out about Owl city shortly after.. I have not.. I'm being truthful .. I have not taken Owl City out of my car in years.. probably 10 years ... All my Ex girlfriends Cringed because they couldn't understand my obsession. However, people don't know I lost both my parents in my 20s, and owl city pulled me out of a depression ... so I'm forever grateful for good music..

I've been a fan of Adam for years. Dated and got engaged to a girl who didn't like his music, constantly mentioning her issues with his music, making me depressed to listen to it. It was such a huge part of all of my developmental life, and then I just stopped listening to it, skipping his songs when they came on. It wasn't until after we broke things off that I realized that this part of my life and of me had been taken from me, and it was so relieving to have it back. I've since reclaimed the love for his music I once had and found a girl who is going with me to see him on tour this fall. I've gotten her into his music and she's loving this album, as am I. Life lesson. Don't date someone who doesn't like Owl City lol.

I like how, in a weird sort of way, the songs in this album feel like stages in growing up. Maybe it’s a stretch, but if I think about it, a lot of the songs feel like points in someone’s life. The childlike wonder at the circus (Under the Circus Lights) and seeing dinosaurs (Dinosaur Park), the older teen with a part time job (Adam Check Please) feeling invincible (Sons of Thunder) before experiencing their first true terror (The Tornado), the young adult learning about the harsher reality of the world in war (The Meadow Lark) and losing someone important (Kelly Time) then learning to keep moving in spite of the difficulties (Learn How to Surf) and finally accepting things thus finding happiness (Field Notes and Vitamin Sea) and someone to share life with (My Muse) I know that probably makes no sense and is most likely not what Adam was going for, but I still like the idea

I love that Sons Of Thunder can been seen as praise/worship song, as it is deeply rooted in theology; but that it is equally just an uplifting song as well. Also, the Meadow Lark has a hymn like melody and lyrical pattern as well. So I found that to be quite interesting. It really reminds me of Adams rendition of: "How Deep the Father's Love For Us".

I don't think it feels like the most cohesive album, but that's not necessarily a knock on it. Like you said, this album is Adam letting loose creatively, so I didn't exactly expect it to flow as smoothly as other albums. I for one am loving the fun and creativity he's having with it! It also seems that each song incorporates in some way the music styles and/or themes of a past album(s) (like that rock sound in Sons of Thunder was giving me flashbacks to The Midsummer Station for ex). So even if people don't care for the album as a whole, I would think fans would be able to find at least some songs that speak to them. That's my opinion anyway, thank you for reviewing his album :)

I love how this is like the culmination of everything, the best parts of last albums. The only thing I kind of miss, is that yes, it is nice to have that maturity and whimsy meet, but I feel like the lyrics aren't as relatable being so specific. Same with Cinematic, I found it hard to get into because I couldn't relate to as many songs in quite the same way. Maybe I'm Dreaming, through Mobile Orchestra all seemed so relatable in many ways because they talked about common experiences, or at least things that more people could relate to, or were from a different perspective so it wasn't as specific. I also find it funny how Kelly Time has a line that sounds just like Wonderfilled with just with the melody and timing. But I love how so many different genres, instruments, and styles all come together in these songs where you can easily recognize it as Owl City, but it's also not quite like anything else out there. Kind of like how Bill Wurtz is the only one doing what he does.

Sons of Thunder had to be my fav song in the album. The high notes from Adam in the song was a chef's kiss 😂

If Learn How To Surf doesn't end up on the radio someday...IMO it's what Good Time should've been. That song could've easily been on TMSS.
