Production - 8/10 Lyrics - 3/10 Overall 5.5/10 Almost flawless production, a few horrible misses. Lyrics are very, very basic and underwhelming though there are a few bright spots but nowhere near enough to elevate this album above mediocre.

@@GodTalkinShhh that's the only defense everyone who rates it high can come up with. When rating an album unbiased you have to figure in the lyrics into the rating, you can't excuse it because that's not their "thing". Everyone was bumping Kings of Crunk back in the day, no one listened to it because of deep lyrics either but they didn't elevate it to the status people do Travis Scott's music. That's being biased and hypocritical.

This is very much a night time vibey album where the production is TOP notch. You can see the Kanye and cudi influence throughout with some of Travis’s twists in there which pushes the sound forward. I already love it and I think it will be a defining album of coming years and the sound is so unique compared to everything else right now

Majority of the "kanye influence" people are describing in utopia came from travis first and not even ye lmao. @@exttiint Yeah that proves nothing lol. It's called showing respect. For an example, zel is top 10 rappers oat but he would still say someone like lil wayne is better than him due to the amount of respect he has for him. Travis was also greatly exaggerating considering the only reason he didn't fail mentally/emotionally and continued making music was due to the support of cudis music, not kanye. "No Travis Scott without Kanye" is just untrue

Hi Bob! I was the girl in line outside the Kendrick Lamar concert in Sac who said hello😊. As a giant Kendrick fan, I was VERY pleasantly surprised how much I liked this album and I find myself listening to it everyday. I’m not much into Travis, but this album is (in my opinion) his magnum opus and I agree that it’s much better enjoyed as an overall project than by individual songs. Maybe that’s why there’s such an appeal to some of us Kendrick fans, but who knows😆

Hey Bella! Thanks for saying hi while we were in line, that was nice. Sorry if I seemed a little quiet/standoff-ish. It had occurred to me that someone might recognize me, but I never considered the next step of what to actually say if they did 😂 I'm glad you're enjoying the album. I think you're right that Kendrick fans will have an easier time sitting down with an entire album and letting it simmer with them. He's taught us well in that department.

This is one of the few albums in recent memory that I consciously decided to sit and listen to all the way through. Put on noise canceling headphones in the dark. The production was overwhelming on first listen. The Drake thing is hilarious because I was thinking about a line of his realizing he's just in too high of a tax bracket for me to relate. He had a line in Her Loss that went "I'm in the Missoni room at the Byblos…We goin' from the Vava to Cinquante-Cinq, then back to the Vava" and I'm just kinda nodding along googling what the heck is the vava.

Thank you for shedding some light on the theme of the album for me - I hadn't thought of it in that way -- Travis Scott is a superstar, incredibly famous, talented, and rich; by all means, you'd think his life would be perfect, a "utopia". But he's still human, prone to heartbreak, regrets, depressions, etc, and I'm sure in the aftermath of the Astroworld tragedy, he was going through all these emotions pretty heavily. It's a simple album concept, but it works so well, especially in contrast to the more intricate and unique production and creative decisions than what we're typically used to in mainstream hip hop. I wonder what the link is between this idea and the Egyptian imagery and references he's been using for the promotion of the album. Thanks again for the review

@@slattslattslatt this the problem with u silly haters who only listen to his radio hits. Even Kanye himself said that Drake is a better lyricist than him, on the Drink Champs pod or whatever it’s called, he admitted that Drake wrote for him on multiple occasions and said his life would be easier if Drake did that all the time because his pen game is ridiculous. Listen to Take Care, Nothing Was The Same, If You Are Reading This It’s Too Late. Not a single Travis or Tyler album are better than Take Care or NWTS. “Look What You’ve Done”, “5Am in Toronto”, “6pm in New York”, “Over my Dead Body”, “Lord Knows”, “The Ride”, “Tuscan Leather”, “Pound Cake”, “The Motion”, “Too Much”, “Two birds, one stone”, “Omertà”, “Diplomatic Immunity”, “Do Not Disturb”, “Chicago Freestyle”, “Dreams Money Can Buy”, “4pm in Calabasas”, “7am on Bridle Path”, “Champagne Poetry” And many fucking more, are just the example of his lyrical ability, storytelling, double and triple entendres, bars. Lyrically, he is better than Kanye, I’m not even talking about Travis and Tyler. His production isn’t crazy “experimental” because that’s not the aim, it’s just crisp perfect all the time and only a dumbass will argue with 40’s mixing abilities, as well as beats from Boi1da, OZ and many more of his usual collaborators. Y’all just don’t want to listen to the gems, rather listen to Gods Plan or Keke Do you love me and then go on the Internet to play fake woke/conscious/sophisticated rap fans. Fuck outta here with that cringe bullshit

It’s not even the fact that it’s a great album. It also lifted up mainstream rap. Mainstream rap was lacking star power. With the 21 Savage and Drake features it builds up even more hype for their upcoming albums. The Rob49 and Kaycyy features are going to elevate both of their careers significantly (especially Rob49). The rare Playboi Carti and Beyoncé feature is like The Rock returning and having a match against John Cena. The Westside Gunn feature is the crossover that hip hop heads salivate for. Even the song with Bad Bunny & The Weeknd feels like the biggest collaboration this year (yes Travis and Bad Bunny have collabed before & Travis & The Weeknd have collabed before but all three on one song is crazy). The Young Thug verse whilst he’s in jail. The lyrics addressing the Astroworld situation. Even Daft Punk collabing with Travis. If you couldn’t already tell by now this album got me hyped

Great album with an amazing sonic experience and with this, astro and rodeo, Travis is definitely one of hip hop’s best curators right now, Westside Gunn being another one

Told myself beforehand that there’s no expectations for this album because after 5 years all we’ve had is features and mainstream bait. I’m so glad I had no expectations cause it forced me to go in open minded and I loved this album from first listen. My Eyes is one of his most beautiful and complete songs, I KNOW? Is one of his best solo songs, his verse to end the album on Till Further Notice is one of his best verses. There’s so many highlights on this album and in my opinion it goes right between Rodeo and Astroworld

I disagree with saying utopia is a better album experience than rodeo, I think they're both worlds that were built in very different times in Travis' life, but both have that dark and grimey undertone. I see a lot of similarities between the 2 but at the same time song for song they are nothing alike.

I'm usually not the biggest trap fan cuz the albums are kinda ass atm, but Travis has become one of my favorite artists ever since I first listened to Rodeo.

Mr.Bob Drake is not the type of guy to give you many deep or hidden meanings you have already listened to TPAB and a single song from that is deeper than anything Drake has ever made so take the meltdown verse that literally if you knew what V's meant and the situation Im sure you would get it

I think Astroworld is still better, but a good album yes. And you definitely need to react to the new Drake album! It’s probably going to be mostly R&B!

This might sound crazy but I feel like this album will age the best out of all of Travis' projects so far even compared to Rodeo which I think might be better but idk the more I listen to this album the more I like it.
