Sheriff dude is more concerned with how it makes cops look, than the fact that so many in the profession are falling down drunks that beat their significant others at alarming rates. That is the culture in NM law enforcement though. Form over function. How does something make the cops look, what does it do the facade. That's not management. That's pathetic.

Simple test to see if you're alcoholic: If you can have one drink a day for 30 days - no more and no less than that, and you're OK, you probably don't have anything to worry about. (On the other hand, you're drinking enough to take the test, so there's that.) There's a great deal of stress in the job of LEO - along with many other professions. So it's important to address stresses and warning signs - before these things happen and lives endangered, careers ruined, etc. Recovery is free and you don't go it alone. Take care, friends.
