I don't believe in making comparisons with players in different eras. They were both great in their era, with the equipment that was available. Give them a wooden racket and the old strings, that couldn't produce much spin, it would probably be a different story.

@@dongill9186It's a serve for a serve and volley player, in his era, when rackets weren't as powerful and so skilled players at the net weren't easily passed. Today, even with his serve, he wouldn't do well in singles...the serve takes you deep into the court due to momentum from the motion, if you don't go to net you actually lose a split second recovering (which is all a pro needs to gain the upper hand) plus expend extra energy to get back to the baseline.

Different eras. Djokovic would have won way less playing in same era as Agassi and McEnroe. Wouldn't win 7 Wimbledons when peaking with Sampras or with McEnroe who was also peaking with Borg. McEnroe and Borg 5 Wimbledons each in same era. All those 4 also winning at least 4 USOs each. Borg also 5 RGs. Top players didn't played AO much in those times due to long way to travel to Aus, expensive to travel to Aus, lower prize money, perceived as less prestigious. Made players more willing to skip it (Agassi until 1995, Sampras in 1999).

The extreme speed backhand and forehand djoko did to agassi was amazing, shows how hard current pros hit. And the work on the ball he gave agassi on the baseline, inknow how that feels. Fun match.

agassi was fooling around while novak hit a few serious shots. you can see he was the only one always split stepping and on his toes. agassi would have handled them easily if he was a little serious.
