You produce a video of documentary film quality ! I just notice your series, but do have a general question for solo traveling; how do people deal with occasional small illness like cold, flu, it could really ruin whole travel plan. In emergency case people can call 911 or 112, but not for small sickness while latter may happen more frequently.

First, thanks for the compliment on the video. As for illness, it is one of my biggest worries. Initially I purchased travel insurance to make sure I was covered, but it is really expensive and just seemed a bit overkill. I recently upgraded my AmEx card to the AmEx Reserve, which includes travel delay and baggage coverage. I pay less than $100 extra to upgrade the medical coverage that includes flying you out of a spot to get you medical attention. I haven't put it to the test yet, but it is definitely cheaper than purchasing travel insurance each time (It has a $650 annual fee, but also gives you 3 times mileage points). I think there are other credit cards that offer similar programs, so that would be my advise. If I ever need it, I'll let you know how it works....hopefully, that won't be the case! Thanks for your comment.

Did you spend any time in SF? Was it safe? Or did you leave immediately?

I took the train ride in twice and spent a little time near Fisherman's Wharf and the ferry pier. I felt very safe there. I think with any big city, you just need to know where you are going, so you don't wander into a rough area. I plan to spend more time in SF in March/April, so I'll share more then.
