Yes, Alcatraz is a great site to see. My scout troop and cub pack went on the day tours over the years before the audio version was available. One of the tour guides asked them about snow days, which we had due to living in the Foothills. His dad had worked as a guard and he lived on the island. They would have fog days because the boat to the mainland wouldn't run if the fog was too thick. What an idea!

The night tour sounds amazing! Was there years ago ( daytime) but you inspired me now to go at night. When I had gone, there was a former prisoner signing his book and I so regret not getting it😢.

I went on the night tour also. I remember the boat taking us over was selling peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for something like ten dollars. They also had wine for sale, which looked like an invitation to trouble. All that rocking back and forth coupled with alcohol. I'll admit it was so cold on the Rock that a few sips of red wine or brandy would have been nice.
