L Theanine is a good natural alternative… Kava is as well. However, it may be harmful on the liver and is quite controversial… Exercise and healthy eating are essential (coming from someone who has been through GABA/glutamate imbalance). What an excellent presentation of alcohol's effect on GABA. This, together with the dehydration that occurs, can make a drinker feel rough after consuming too much alcohol.
@checkandbalance29036 жыл бұрын
Actually its fundamentally incorrect on many levels. Alcohol does not raise GABA levels, it just stimulates the GABA receptor. Topomax does not raise GABA levels either. Wrong WRONG WRONG. Don't take my word for it, just look it up yourself.
@tactics-mnk60845 жыл бұрын
Simulates not stimulates. Don’t be wise please. Your brain thinks: well we are getting enough of this. We don’t have to help these receptors anymore.

Jonathan, for some of us, it can take a long time to heal from benzo withdrawal. Cold turkey increases the likelihood of this since the body wasn't given the time to adjust to the missing drug that weaning would've provided. The best cure for what you're feeling now is simply time. The farther away you get from the drug, the better and better you'll feel. Speaking from experience here.

@@Nitroblast that's why people need to challenge the FDA on their decision to ban Picamilon in supplements. Picamilon has been used in Russia since the late 60's to treat a variety of issues, including alcoholism, brain injuries, anxiety, etc. It's simply GABA combined with niacin, since niacin is able to cross the blood brain barrier. If you look into the reasons why it was banned, you may soon come to realize that there are many similar supplements which should have been banned as well following their logic. Picamilon is officially classed as an experimental nootropic, however you may be convinced of its safety after reading this quote. “FDA has run amok when it comes to Picamilon and their logic is extremely flawed. Picamilon is derived from two natural compounds: nicotinic acid (niacin) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). There is a prodrug of GABA called picamilon - which, once crosses the BBB, is converted into GABA and niacin via hydrolysis, and will work as endogenous GABA. FDA’s logic is that Picamilon is a drug although it is only comprised of niacin and GABA (two completely DSHEA compliant products). If FDA’s logic on Picamilon were to be followed throughout the supplement industry the following would be banned: Calcium Citrate (calcium and citric acid combined to help absorption); L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate (A combination of Arginine and AKG); Citrulline malate (a combination of Citrulline and malic acid); and Magnesium amino acid chelate (called magnesium aspartate) would also be banned. Magnesium aspartate is a mineral amino acid chelate containing magnesium bound to the amino acid known as aspartate or aspartic acid. Almost all vitamins and minerals are bound to some salt or compound for stability of the molecule and usually for better bioavailability. To ban Picamilon for the same actions that have been going on in our industry ever since DSHEA was created in 1994 shows this to be a witch hunt against Picamilon initiated by Pieter A. Cohen.” - Jared Wheat, Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals blog.priceplow.com/supplement-news/picamilon-fda Currently struggling to find Picamilon from a reputable and fast-shipping retailer, because it's difficult to find being in the US where it's effectively banned, even though it's GRAS (generally recognized as safe) in basically all respects. Funny, because Ivermectin for example is being touted by many health experts (Paul Marick, Kory Pierre, FLCCC, America's Frontline Doctors, etc.) as a "miracle drug" for its effectiveness in fighting and preventing covid (it's part of a prophylaxis treatment protocol), but it's in FDA limbo, regardless of how urgently these treatments/meds are needed. Also regardless of how safe it is if used responsibly.

GABA does in fact cross the blood-brain barrier, but just barely. I have tried a very large amount before and it certainly had an effect (unless having a crazy scrambled brain for a few hours afterwards was just a placebo). @Adrienne Gurge Well, Adrienne, I don't know WHY YOU are telling the LIE that I was "telling someone with (so-called) schizophrenia not to take their medication". That's bullshit, Adrienne. Psych drugs are neuro-toxins, which is also what Dr. Peter Breggin calls them. See: "Toxic Psychiatry" By Dr. Breggin. He's written many more books besides. Japan, Korea, Taiwan, are among the countries which no longer use the word "schizophrenia". Psychiatry and psych drugs have done, and continue to do, FAR MORE HARM than good. Why do YOU use the fraudulent and deceptive euphemism "meds", when what you really mean are PRIVATE, FOR-PROFIT DRUGS? If so-called "psych drugs" are so good, then why aren't they a PUBLIC, NON-PROFIT public good? Actually, your statement that "most psyche drugs are not addictive" is false, and not supported by science. Why do you think psychs typically tell their drug zombies that they will need the drugs "for life"? To cover up how addicting they are! Duh! The so-called "side effects" of most so-called "anti-depressants" include "suicidal and homicidal ideation and behavior", as quoted fro the package insert. In other words, Science KNOWS that psych drugs CAN, and DO cause persons to commit suicide and mass-murder. The FDA-mandated "black box" warning has appeared on SSRI's since the 1990's. ****vaccines don't cause autism, alcohol doesn't cause alcoholism, heroin and fentanyl don't cause drug addiction, and depression does not cause suicide. You do believe that that's all TRUE, don't you, Adrienne....????....
@silentumexcubitor67475 жыл бұрын
@Adrienne Gurge Are being deliberately obtuse, or are you simply stupid? So-called "schizophrenia" was invented over 100 years ago. It reflects the relative level of medical and scientific ignorance at the time, compared to today. It's a misunderstanding of how the CNS works, and an ignorance of the sequelae of ACE's.... Why is it that the SAME DRUG, is prescribed for a wide variety of different "diagnoses"? And WHY is any given "diagnosis" dosed with a WIDE variety of different drugs? If psychiatry and psych drugs were even 1/2 as legit as they claim, there'd be a more 1-to-1 relationship between drugs and diagnoses. But there's not. Because psychiatry is a pseudoscience drug racket, and means of social control. And you suggest that the drugs "get taken up too fast"? tell me about "pharmaco-genetics", Adrienne.... You can't, can you? All you can do is ARGUE, LIE about me, and spout the same brainwash propaganda psychobabble and gobbledygook you've been spoon-fed for $$$$ by QUACKS!....

Too late probably, but most likely no, you dont have a dependence. Unless you started increasing dosage, .5mg of clonazepam isn't prone to cause a dependence within just a month or so of daily consumption. However benzodiacepenes are not used over long periods of time because they do have a risk of psychological dependence and a bigger one on physiological dependence. What should help if you stop taking it, is not to stop from one day to another (known coloquially as going 'cold turkey') but rather decrease the dose gradually (ej. start taking half pill instead of one, then decrease to a quarter, etc.) This relies on the assumption that a health professional prescribed it to you.

Except for perhaps MDMA (in terms of toxicity); despite the fact that heroin and methamp users are the poster children for drug abuse. I can't help but wonder if this was some form of compromise by the rulemakers here: IE no drugs allowed buuuut you can have at'er if you're likely to hate it. Thus, ethyl alcohol.
