Thank You Clara for such details in Alcohol Inks 😍 I'm still playing with the ratio of ai to alcohol and using the blow dryer to get softer outline of the different shades 💜💚💙💛

You are very welcome. If you are playing with creating a softer edge. Try just a drop in the middle of a large page and add alcohol to one area. Lets say you add it to the right side. When done drying, add more a little more to the right and continue. When you are done with that side, start on the left. Do this all over. It's a great way to practice and see how far you can get the softness to extend. Don't worry about creating a piece of art. This is just to learn about the medium. When done, if you want to create something with this, just add more ink and have fun.

Thanks so much and welcome. This will, but you will need to do a lot of prep first. Coat of gesso, sand smooth, repeat and repeat, then you should be able to do the alcohol inks on top.

I saw a video with you and Rhonda about mixing alumilite dyes and alcohol. What is your mixing ratio on that? Thank you in advance. You are awesome!

The allumilite dyes are super concentrated. When using the small needle applicator bottles, fill it up to almost the top with 91% alcohol and then I usually go no more than 4 regular drops of dye. Test on a pad of paper towels after a few drops to see if the intensity is what you want.

Wonder if there's a way to work some of those into a quilt design? I love doing my crazy quilts because there's so much freedom in them. I also do a lot of hand embroidery on them. I'd love to have the images of the inks on fabric. 💖💖💖

I can talk quilting. You could take a fat quarter and paint some swirls or brush strokes on it. Cut that up into shapes and piece them with your other fabrics. There are several fabric friendly paints or stains out there to help create this look. Fiber Reactive dyes are my favorite because of the intensity of colors you can get and the range of softness that can come out of them, but they are a huge investment on time and materials to learn. Jaquard has a paint that Helen Goden and I use that will also work.

Thanks. I'm glad it was helpful. I use inexpensive brushes meant for acrylic paints. The alcohol is hard on the hairs, so I don't use anything too nice. Soft bristles.
