I saw an alcohol ink artist the other day that used an empty Air Brush to blow the ink around. Just used it for the air blowing. It seemed to work great. I immediately thought of you. Thought I'd pass on the idea to you. In case you hadn't seen it used. Thank you for your videos. I love to watch you paint. Austin, TX USA

Thank you Barbara, yea my wife has an airbrush for cake decorating and I thought of borrowing it and trying it. However I'm worried it may intimidate other who are starting because of expense, complexity and they may not start simple. I will make some intermediate videos with airbrush soon

Hi Askari! I loved it at about 18:41 And again at 19:40! I love your demos! After working with Acrylic, oil and watercolor for years, I think I have found my favorite medium. I just recently starting working with alcohol ink and I do find it very meditative✨ I’ve learned so much watching your demos. I thank you.

I love the blow dryer with that angled attachment. I looked in your resources section and couldn't find it. Can you give me some more info on it please? ENJOY you videos. I just started using alcohol inks yesterday but I have been watching videos for a while now. Yours are very informative and I appreciate your patience in telling us what you are doing and why.

I really learned a lot by watching you in this video. I’ve been putting tiny little drops of alcohol and I was really amazed at how much you used and how you moved the ink around and around. I can hardly wait to try it again today. Thanks again

The first and only time I worked with alcohol ink,I had no idea what I was doing. I thought that I was really messing up,l desided not to go any further,I desided to do some feathering around what I thought I messed up,I reall blew my mind! It is beautiful😇. When showed people they don't know exactly how to look at,but I do. I can't seem to do a pretty mistake again. 😪

Hi I have just stareted experimenting with these alcohol inks and love the effect. I have tried yupo paper but it does tend to buckle on me! I notice that you use a lot of the isopropyl alcohol -does that keep it flat??

What type of plastic board do you usually use? And where do you get it. I enjoy your videos and work. I am working myself up to move onto large canvases.
@AskariArt3 жыл бұрын
so for this painting, I'm using YUPO paper. I usually buy plastic poster board for my practice pieces from Michael's. It acts a little differently as does canvas. www.michaels.com/white-plastic-poster-board-by-creatology/10378146.html

I paint with acrylics but wanted to try inks since I'm retired and live to be creative this is just beautiful and I have to give it a try. One quest though. Must you always use alchohol.
@AskariArt3 жыл бұрын
Yea with alcohol inks you can use denatured alcohol, 91% isopropyl, 99% isopropyl, Everclear (drinking kind), or blending solution by Tim Holtz

Do you think using Yupo paper is what makes it all come together, I have Pixss paper and it doesn't blow at all
@AskariArt2 жыл бұрын
I think Yupo, Nara, plastic poster board is great for this. I've never had experience using PIXSS paper. I sell a sketchbook on my site that is using Yupo paper.

What low-cost respirator can be used for amateur in alcohol ink painting?
@AskariArt5 ай бұрын
I haven't come across one because I believe safety is the one thing you should skimp on. I find cheaper alternatives for everything else except that.
@denisehunt13173 жыл бұрын
My brother in law who buys a lot of art says, you get hardboard and lacquer it first. Is that correct?
@AskariArt3 жыл бұрын
+Denise Hunt I typically use canvas for the pieces that I sell. for practice I use plastic posterboard or in this case Yupo. I think some Laquers turn yellow over time. I'd use Kamar Varnish, and uv archival to seal it. I have a video for that as well
@doncraig60587 ай бұрын
Practice is expensive and you keep saying don’t worry about it but to get 99% alcohol blow dryer, bottles,ink ,gloves,special paper,and my time to practice something as a craft and not even close to start on canvas yet. I’m getting discouraged can you help me with any advice. I’ve been using a straw. Will a blow dryer make a big difference? Do you use warm air? Thanks.
@AskariArt7 ай бұрын
Never use a straw, your inhaling all the fumes. Safety first. I use plastic post card you can buy it from Michaels in the states. 2 dollars a sheet 18x30. I would use either a rocket air blaster or a blow dryer on cold. Warm will dry it up faster and won't allow you to work. I have other videos doing small demos on plastic poster board.

Hi-Nice video.Are there 2 types of alcohol inks?I went to buy some on Amazon and it said for epoxy like making ashtrays and coasters then it said it wasn't for porous surfaces.Then I saw another alcohol ink and I could use that type of ink on porous surfaces.I don't know what to buy.Thanks

I would look up copic or tim holtz inks. Or Pinata. I haven't tried the others yet.

How do you hang paintings on poster board or yuppo paper
@AskariArt3 жыл бұрын
Joyce I'm not sure I understand your question. I typically don't hang any of my posterboard or yupo paper paintings. I only use them for practice. My wife has framed and matted a few of them just for around the house. Most of my paintings I sell to clients or commissions are done in canvas or Linen
