I’m almost done! Here is the final color contribution for my rainbow alcohol ink on vellum, all earmarked to be cut up for use in a butterfly mobile project for my son. I experimented with using the blow dryer at an angle for smooth color gradations. I really like the outcome; it’s very subtle, unlike the large splashes and contrasts that I’ve been leaning toward lately.
The next part of this piece will be cutting all my beautiful vellum up to use as butterfly wing inserts! I’m afraid that it’ll have to go to the back burner for a bit because I have a few pressing things to take care of, but this project will be back on track before too long.
Once again, the kiddo is joining me for a while. We are in a well-ventilated area, he is closely supervised, and he does a great job of listening when I tell him to stop or to stand back to let any fumes dissipate. Also, he is only using a low-flow airbrush (armed with only air), pointed away from him. Use your best judgment to decide if this is right for your child.
