My problem with stopping drinking had always been the social aspect of it. Now I'm nearly 52 though so I'm hardly out on the lash all the time anyway so there's no excuses. I've been dry since New year's Day and will try to keep going as long as i can.

Thanks for sharing! It’s literally why I took so long. Thought all social life would die with it. Not the case though you just become more selective with who you interact with. It’s on your terms though 👍

I was a Binge drinker for years, approximately 28 years. had some laughs and good times but also not good times. Decided to quit about two years ago, it took about a year and half of stop starting but if you really want to do it then its well worth it, Takes about 5-6 Months before the cravings subside. I am now nearly 9 months Alcohol Free, Feel great. Yes life becomes a bit Vanilla but you have you're life back Physical and Mental health, Clarity with thinking is unreal. everything in the UK seems to be about drinking and as you get older you can not keep pouring Ethanol into you're body or your be in the ground early, Ethanol is in most Alcohol drinks and is toxic to the human body " I only learnt this recently after giving up" Once you get over the hump and on the other side I now feel like I'm different from a lot of people and i have a super Power. Give it a go.

Fully agree with you here mate ! Def in the UK binge drinking culture esp at weekends..I'm 52 at the end of this month, done dry jan last year few weeks off here and there, drunk most weekends one or two nights over thirty plus years. Gets worse the older you get..Red flags were there years ago...I'm 3 weeks sober and I'm done with it, feel do much better getting off the hamsters wheel...But yes it's hard in social scene esp in the summer, xmas etc..Amd u grt plenty of mates who dont want u to stop because they have to question their own drinking..I should have quit 10 years ago tbh...Mote videos I watch on damage alchchol does to you the more I want to give it up..
