Regarding boredom, there is literally nothing on earth more boring than being around drunk people when you are sober. The same boring old stories over and over again. Suddenly I have realised how boring the endless cycle of drinking was. Im 28 days into sobriety and I can honestly say that I havent been bored for a second. When I am not working I now have energy to cycle, cook, hike and read. Movies and TV are more interesting now, everything seems more interesting when I sober instead of laying on the couch with a crippling hangover, riddled with anxiety.

6 month clean from Drugs/Alcohol next week.. Please listen to this man, followed him for years but stupidly went back to the Drink after periods of sobriety. Which led to drugs.. Give your self a month or 2 and see how you feel,I PROMISE you that you won’t want to go back to that life. ❤️🙏

Well done on your achievement. I am in the same situation, 7.5 months free of drink and drugs. The funny thing is it was the alcohol that was the main problem, I don’t even think about the drugs until I got drunk and then you make stupid decisions like phoning up your local dealer. My mental health and physical health has improved drastically since giving up, I have lost over 17kg in that time. I intend on staying alcohol and drug free for the foreseeable future, alcohol, it’s one of the most dangerous drugs

"There's a huge risk that it becomes the sole source of your enjoyment or relief from the mundaneness and challenges of life." So true and it's so common for sure - alcohol being a top goal for many to work towards at the end of the week - often a Thursday or Friday kickoff and into the weekend. Working towards a self-destruction that seems like enjoyment but deep down is arguably relief for them whether they admit or not (probably most won't admit it).

1 month away from 2 years sober. What a great topic Kev So truthful I don't know how many people say to me how boring life must be without alcohol. They are the the ones who are bored with life . I felt exactly the same way when I drank nearly 2 years ago. The restrictions are so real . I feel as tho I have been unshackled from chains now . For example I can do whatever I want now wether it be blast along the road at midnight on my Harley Davidson. Life is definitely not boring without alcohol believe me. Onwards and upwards.

Love your Videos Man. 65 days sober here. I continue watching your videos over and over again. The more I watch them the more I don't ever want to go back to drinking. I'm 49 years old started drinking at 16 regularly. Never thought I would quit. I was afraid of always being bored, or to not be the life of the party. There is so much to do when your sober. No time to be bored... Anyways thank you for making these videos.

Hey Kevin good work mate I too drank for near on 30 years 50 % of the time I thought I was having fun 50% of the time it was a bloody nightmare lost relationships dui loss of self respect loss of respect from others not too mention the deep depression and anxiety caused by alcohol I am now 2 years sober I have money in my bank account I have travelled to the Philippines twice don't suffer from any anxiety or depression hangovers I have met the love of my life and am enjoying life to the full was it easy no it wasn't the lie that I am missing out on something rears it's ugly head but I quickly remind myself what it was like before lol never again onward and upwards I am 55 and this is only a fraction of my story I am a great believer in the idea that, the definition of insanity is doing the, same thing over and over again and not learning from those mistakes that was aleast 30 years of my life I was, basically insane pouring the poison down my throat day after day it's like hitting your head against a brick wall it's so good when it,stops,😂

Is the Universe boring? It doesn’t do much and is pretty predictable. Are animals boring? They love to nap in a sunny spot or just sit there watching bugs and stuff. Music and dancing isn’t boring. Tending to young children is boring as hell, but it teaches us that life is not all about our wants, needs and access to instant gratification. Is a monk or “loner” bored? Or are they experiencing something so fulfilling that they’re actually ecstatic? Lots of things to find out if you aren’t habitually going to the liquor store, putting the bottles away, pondering how much money you spent (again), having a drink, and another and another, not sleeping well and doing it again the next day with a hangover to boot. I guess you can live your life as a self-centered glutton. But our poor children…

I've been having 1-3 glasses of wine in the evenings, sometimes zero, but the total each week was still double digits. In July I got it to single digits, but started having panic attacks again, so had a glass of wine to calm down one night after a major fallout with a friend. Still gonna try again 🤞

When I first quit, I literally could not think of anything that I liked to do more than drinking. People said find something you like to do more than drinking and do that. Well, I had been drinking for so long, virtually everything I did involved drinking in some fashion. You know.... bike ride, take the cooler, horse ride, take a flask, beach.. well duh... alcohol, hike... yippie beer at the top, kayak alcohol in the kayak, bbq... tons of alcohol, shopping.... liquid lunch... diner out... rounds of alcohol, reading.... alcohol. I think the only time I didn't drink was when I was working , scuba diving or running. Fast forward, I love all things w/o the alcohol, it is so damn nice to not worry about the alcohol. *boating still trips me up but at least I can boat w/o alcohol now and not be a sour puss about it

Absolutely. Drink dulls the senses. But more than that, it’s an opportunity cost to really open up to life and try new things. I feel so compelled to really live my life to the fullest. I’m ditching my phone as “entertainment”, reading a book instead, in natural places. I’m detoxing from the modern grime that is hyper-reality and constant dopamine hits. And all of that requires sobriety and a willingness to live…differently.

Alcoholics can have what seems like the perfect life, fame. fortune good looks and still not be happy without drinking , it’s all about you being able to sit with yourself without changing your emotional state by taking a drug .. there are people who can sip a few drinks and know their limits! , unfortunately I’d argue they are in the minority..

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kevin. I watch your videos on a regular basis. I quit for 3 years & thought I could go back to social drinking that I could control. Well that lasted a few years & then I just went right back to destroying my life with it. Sober 6 months now & I love waking up & not having to deal with the BS that alcohol was bringing me. Had a friend say to me the other day he went away with some guys and how hard it was to keep up with their drinking pace as he once used to keep up with them. I said to myself wow he actually believes that he has to keep up! Thanks for sharing all your wisdom!

Meaning, I'm 65 years old, I have a wonderful family, a beautiful home and am absolutely stable and happy in all aspects. Almost every night for most of my life I dink 2- 3 whiskey..Irish only btw ;) Sometimes I will take a month off just to prove to myself I can..I recently had a MRI on my liver etc, all good, bloods all good....Of course Alchohol is absolutely not healthy but imo most people I know who drink have other problems , don't make this only about " having a drink" respect for your msg anyway but it does not apply to all
