Yes. It was the same with Hamilton. I started watching F1 seriously a year before Lewis' debute. I immediately chose Lewis as my favourite. Than he went to Mercedes and I started to dislike him. This is why I think people who dismiss him for winning just 1 championship in 8 years are just being ignorant. Every other driver spends 2-4 years in junior car racing before coming to F1. Even Hamilton had 5 years of open wheel car racing before his 2007 debut. By the time Verstappen was winning F1 races, other drivers are preparing to start F2. He basically had his junior career in F1.

After the race many people expected him to get reprimanded for ignoring the team order, but instead the team backed him up publicly stating Max made the right call by ignoring the team order. There are so many young drivers now that are doing amazing things in these cars, and I like that the teams are seeing the wisdom in getting these guys while they still have plenty of prime years left in them. With the ferrari, you can set the fastest lap with how much speed they can carry through corners, but it is harder to pass with the lack of straight line speed compared to RB. Therefore, when max gets ahead, he will stay ahead, and it is easier for him to pass if he gets a perfect exit from a corner with the straight line speed. As David Coulthard said, if you're good enough, you're old enough. He's not afraid to call Max out - to his face if necessary (I don't know if he still does it, but he used to fly him to and from the races. He had Max and Danny Ric in the plane after _that_ race in Baku lol), but he's not afraid to say that Max is one of the most natural talents he's ever seen, and he drove against Schumacher (and beat him on track more often than people think) and Lewis, and literally took Senna's seat. He knows what he's talking about.

If Carlos was so much faster, he could have overtaken him himself. And well, this is why Max is Max and Carlos is number 2.

Still 17 years old (the race was on sep 20). Just second year of single seaters. He deserved that p8. I can't imagine any real racer, a real athlete giving that hard earned p8 to anyone, especially on a team order. We are not talking about last year's situation when every point counted. We are talking about a junior team, whose role is to help young drivers, asking their youngest driver that just performed a little miracle to give it away just because. And even if we are talking about last year. If, by some miracle, Checo was ahead of Max in Mexico, as a Max fan, I would not understand team orders also. I started really watching F1 about 5 years ago and was immediately drawn to and became a fan of Red Bull. There’s something about a scrappy energy drink company going toe to toe with the worlds biggest/fastest car manufacturers that really drew me in. Max was still so young but I knew deep down he was going to do big and amazing things if Red Bull ever got their shit together, and then THEY DID, and it’s giving me such satisfaction/reward for following them so closely from when they were struggling to now competing for championships again. Go BULLS!

I became a new fan last year and was drawn to Red Bull for the exact same reasons. Max is FIERCE. I’ve watched all the races back to 2007 now (when I find a sport to cheer for, I COMMIT lol) and F1 was turning into a gentleman’s sport where you passed either on the DRS straights or with the pit strategy. Max nearly single handedly brought back ferocious wheel to wheel racing, and now the cars match his style! He’s been in beast mode this year and would be far ahead had it not been for his car deciding to go on strike…twice. And Checo is a fantastic driver and teammate but people forget he’s also got a race more than Max completed due to less reliability problems, so you have to look harder at the data to see just how strong Max is this year. I think he’s even stronger than last year and he will win the championship as long as his reliability issues are done with.

He's a fighter in the true sense of the word, and to cap it, he is ALWAYS totally on it. He's a modern hero, a great example of intent, discipline, courage and application. And I like him too! I also want to add that Jos, his Dad, did a fantastic job in training and coaching Max and sacrificing many years for Max, not to mention the fortune he spend. Jos could have been much bigger in F1 too, but He never was in the right team at the right time. But boy, did he do well with Max. Max 2015 Monaco race was actually quiet good. He had a few good overtakes and had bad luck during his pitstop. The crash happened because Grosjean braked a lot earlier at Sante Devoite than the lap before. This caught Max out, who was pushing hard to get the overtake done. Pure the fact that he was actually going for overtakes at Monaco showed that he was a great driver in the making.

I can't say I'm his biggest fan but seeing how good he is to win 10 races in 2021 as and have 18 podiums was impressive. Also he seems to be cool and collected in 2022. Providing he can have a competitive car he can blow Lewis's records away and I'm a Lewis fab. However he has so much young talent competing against him it's going to make F1 epic for the next decade and that could curtail his dominance.

Max, and I truly feel this doesn’t get appreciated enough in the media except Alonso mentioning this, made F1 fun to watch during the Mercedes era. His aggressive driving style got demoted and criticized, I say BOLLOCKS that is what racing is and should be all about. Making your car 5 yards wide and defending every inch of racetrack for dear life is what Senna was all about, we hail Ayrton for and slam Max in the dirt for. He truly made F1 fun in a era where hybrid took all fun and spectacle and turned it down to about “2”.

Red Bull getting both Seb and Max shows how insane their eye for talent is. I could not imagine how fucking boring F1 would have been over the last 2 decades without Red Bull tbh.

@@Phantom096 very nice you think this way, but talent when you lose the last two races thanks to driver errors? And Charles is no all condition driver, when it rains he slams the car in the wall, the way he kept spinning the car in wet conditions this season at Imola.... That is not maybe more than Max, that is less than Max. I rate George and Lando higher in pure talent than Charles.
