Mclaren is responsible for most of what has happened to be honest. Of course, fact of the matter is Lando bottled a lot of opportunities, but the team does not hold his back like Red Bull does with Max. Its underestimated how important team support is. Take Hungary for example. They basically guilt tripped him into giving Piastri a win, after Lando basically saved both his and Piastris ass from turn 1, because were Piastri to try that divebomb on any other driver, both cars are DED. That ultimately had an influence on the rest of Landos season. Mclaren ruined Landos momentum. Had Mclaren tried to make up for Landos weaknesses (particularly mental ones) we might have had a title fight on our hands still. Of course, fact of the matter is Lando simply does not have that thirst for victory that a champion NEEDS, however I do think too much criticism is put on Lando and not enough on the team, as they share as much of the faults as Lando does if not more. What Mclaren has done is fucking disgusting this season.

Honestly, the McLaren of 2024 feels just like the McLaren of 2000-2012, just without a true S-tier driver. Even back in the 2000s/early 2010s, they were the masters of seizing defeat from the jaws of victory. Early 2000s was just Kimi constantly getting screwed over by his own car. 2005 they threw away because of reliability. 2007 they threw away because of Spygate. 2012 they threw away because of bad strategy, bad pit stops and reliability.

As a lando fan, this was a monstrous drive from verstappen. Bit annoyed that Lando and McLaren Fumbled so hard and I’m just hoping for an insane title fight in 2025. I also think it’s shocking how toxic some f1 fans are and especially the British media are when their drivers aren’t on the podium.

The nicest compliment ever for Lewis and Max is coming from Lennie James in 2021 before the last race. Brilliant Lennie thanks 🙏🏼
@Rellz24013 ай бұрын
For me I didn't think a championship fight unless lando go it down to 30 points or less with at least three races to go and he had a great opportunity to do it this weekend and bottled it. Max just showed why he's a cut above everyone and lando still needs alot to learn and McLaren before they can win championships. Also my guy lewis had it bad this weekend think he would've been better off in senna's car instead.

For real. Max’s level is unreal at the moment. It’s actually kinda peak that’s what Lando has to deal with 😭😂

this is such a well made video, and it resonates in so many ways. It seems obvious to me that Max has a Senna-esque mental/intellectual advantage to everyone that Lewis is going to find hard to beat in the Ferrari machinery

Yes, back when Max was first joining F1 people said that his driving style was only comparable to Senna and I honestly think that if anyones Sennas successor, it's Max.

@GR13382 ай бұрын
Definitely. Hamilton does have a good relationship with the family and the foundation, but his style comes from the school of Lauda and Prost. Senna was a passionate rebel (yet very knowledgeable), aggressive on wheel to wheel and always hungry for fasts laps. He would’ve liked Max a lot.

Not to mention that the stewards waited for Lando (who was in the elimination zone) to cross the line before calling that red flag. May have been a nice bonus to push Max where Lando was, but it really shows where their dedication lies. Not with the (medical) helpers or the stranded driver who is a sitting duck on a proven hazardous location, but with their self-assigned national hero who is free to endanger them all.
@junyjaxkson78663 ай бұрын
I just think it's funny that the britsh media believe that lando is on the same level as Max. Max is exceptional, Norris is just a fast driver when he got the fastest car, it's sunny en there's no one to put pressure on him. Not even close!!

I knew he was going to win this race (once we knew it was going to be a wet race), we watched that onboard from the 2016 Brasilian GP about 30 times (the 20 minute version) and there was no doubt in our minds that he would win. The bookies hate me now.

17 fastest laps and 15 overtakes on a slippery wet track with new asphalt, where everybody else driving like a sissy and many are still flying off. That is *no luck* . And Max was already on P2 when the safety car came out. And then having the coolness of mind to wait for the inevitable red flag, that is the *killer instinct* of the true *champion* .

Ocon’s lost Mercedes seat is always one of the biggest what ifs to me. Really wish they’d given him a chance. Although, there was just nowhere for him to fit. Prime Hamilton was there and Bottas was the perfect wingman. It’s probably for the better now tho in hindsight cuz Mercedes don’t look great rn
