This was the company that rallied against the big corporate giants, stuck two fingers up at them and produced incredible beer. You felt like they were fighting against everything that was wrong in the industry. Now 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 are the corporate giants. They are fast becoming everything that's wrong with beer right now. You can't take away what they did in the past and their massive part in the craft beer revolution. It's just a bit sad what they, and others, are becoming.

you know what did it for me? Seeing punk ipa cans on the streets as litter.. I know that sounds random but you know a company is massive when you see there cans just thrown in the streets. Thats also very against what brewdog supposedly stand for so it really is just mainstream beer now and they are appealing to that kind of crowd.

You would be surprised, Simon. I work in a convenience store that sells the single 440ml Punk IPA and the 4 can pack, both in the fridge and the 4 pack sells much better.

Had been a Brewdog supporter for years - but, I'd say since about 2016/2017 their beers have declined. Yes there's still probably a couple of good ones around or they'll bring out 'a special' once in a blue moon now, but it used to be constant excellent beer. The Abstrakt series of beers was discontinued (which was brilliant), Paradox series is hardly a thing now, the brews like Hopshot, Tactical Nuclear Penguin don't happen at all now. They don't even seem to have any on-going barrel ageing series either or special one-off brews, nothing that pushes the boundaries or even gets you excited to try anymore - I think their 'Dog' series which comes out once a year is the best we get now (and that's just a variation on the previous year's version). Their advent calendar this year is also god awful - it's mostly stuff I can get in the shop or via their online shop - no special festive beers or anything. Brewdog are obsessed with making IPAs in the range of 4.3% to 4.7% all with little variations - shows very little imagination in my opinion - adding adjuncts to some which make some of them taste like cats piddle! There's also the changing of Punk IPA from 6% to 5.4%, they did the same to Elvis Juice too (dropping the ABV) but returned to 6.5% a few months later - it still doesn't taste quite the same though. When my partner Gill and I go to the Cardiff bar we still have a great time, mostly as the staff are brilliant there but we mainly see what the guest beers are - hoping that there'll be a good Brewdog own brand beer on tap to remind us of the forward thinking brewery they used to be - to be fair Craig and his staff do try and cater for lovers of all styles of beer and they do try and get some corkers on the menu. Can't fault the staff in the bars we've been in.

I think you underestimate the public and the supermarkets understanding of the public. Tesco etc would not be putting those 12 packs on the shelf if they didn’t sell, simple. Also IPA for under 50s is very well recognised, Brewdog specifically too.

I've just been to a big ASDA store and as you said in the World food area there was Volfas-Engleman and the Blank version as well as Paulaner, they were straight in the trolley, sod food and toiletries etc! This is man shopping. They are in the fridge now, and will be gone soon. it is like Christmas Day, I am excited lol.

We have a similar thing here in South Africa. Devils peak blockhouse IPA. When it first came out, cracking ipa unreal. Now, still decent but not the same beer at all. And only available in 330ml as opposed to 440ml

I visit Lindon fairly often and visit 2 or 3 Brewdog Bars regularly when there. Was a huge fan and always came across fantastic beets there but recently I feel they've gone off the boil and the quality has deteriorated. Are they trying too hard to make factory beer to suit the palate of the supermarket drinker?

I remember the excitement of going into the supermarket and lloking for the new 660ml Brewdog seasonal bomber bottle. Electic India was genuinely ace. Then then the started knocking out that Clockwork Tangerine, which was fecking AWFUL. That was the point it started the Brewdog decent into utter mediocrity. I reckon that Lithuanian brewery could take over most of their business.

I started drinking the Anti-Establishment IPA from Aldi around a year ago. Back then it was £1.59. It's gone up 40p in a year. Not surprising I know given the wider circumstances at the moment. It's now more often than not cheaper to buy to real deal Brew Dog beer. Aldi have lost their price point on this. Maybe they will approach another brewery that can make a beer like this for a little cheaper. I hope so!

The sad truth is that BrewDog are doing better than ever. For every craft beer drinker that avoids them there's 20 casual beer drinkers who will pick up a 4 pack of Punk IPA and think that they are having a premium beer.

Brewdog are an interesting company and almost a throw back to when the big UK brewers also owned their own pubs and excluded other brewers products. I haven't been inside a Brewdog pub so can't comment on that aspect of their business. According to Wikipedia they now have 3 breweries (Ellon, Brisbane Aus & a new one being built in the USA). So I think being international is their chosen direction. I doubt that few potential customers in USA or OZ care about their history etc and are more interested in a venue that allows the target to eat & drink. Like you I don't care that much as there are many other beers out there to drink & discover. I still wish them well as they were a much welcome shot in the arm to UK brewing.

Punk IPA has been utter garbage since the new can design came out and the ABV was reduced from 5.6 to 5.4. The Double Punk IPA tastes almost the same as the old Punk iPA, just like the Double Hazy Jane tastes almost the same as the old Hazy Jane. Basically, they took the original beers, downgraded them and selling them under the name.

This is what happens when you get marketing "experts" out of university heading up promotional departments in companies built on the back of passion. The passion drains out of the product and all that remains is a product soley to generate money. I really want to see us brits do well in the coporate world, we just need to remember what makes us unique and stop trying to compete with other conglomerates, and futhermore the government needs to stop British institutions having hostile takeovers by foreign entities,like Kraft taking over cadburys! It should of been blocked!

i'll be honest Brewdog has done more for the UK regional breweries than for themselves and that goes for Northern monk and Tiny Rebel as well. Those companies forced Greene King and Marstons to put more effort into there real ales which on the whole are good now and easily outclass Punk IPA, Hobgoblin as well tastes amazing now, King Goblin is a lovely beer.

When Brewdog came out I was in my late 20s and a bit of a larger drinker so Punk wasn't a taste I was used to. Now I'm 40 and can't believe I put up with watery domestic lagers, I am a fan of Punk but didn't drink enough of the old version back then to remember the difference. All I drink is IPAs now, so when I see a Punk on draft in one of the Isle of Man pubs here, it's still head and shoulders above any of the other bitters and lagers on tap, but that's my personal taste. I wish there was a better selection of IPAs in pubs here. I'll try and send you a Goth IPA that's made by a local brewery here. Very interesting hop flavour, probably not to everyone's tastes, they called it 'Goth' as a rebuttal to 'Punk' though :D

@@richie72 Punk is not the same as it was and I would be the first to be cheering if the original came back however you could do a heck of a lot worse for £2 a tin. It isn't going to blow anyones socks off but it is a decent beer. If I recall correctly Simon did a video comparing the latest revision to the previous one and he said he preffered the latest iteration. I think this was the 5.6 to 5.4 abv rather than the original Punk though.

@@richie72 It does taste less hoppy for sure which is weird because Brewdog claim to have increased hopps in the last reformulation, I suspect they might actually mean hop oils! Dead Pony Club is ok, I would take Elvis Juice out of their core line up. I do not usually go for beers with fruit adjuncts but I find it refreshing and now it is back to 6.5% it has good body and mouthfeel.
