Same factory doesn't mean same recipe, it's kind of a myth that gets put around a lot. It just makes sense to mass produce similar products in locations were the machinery is available to properly make them. Cheese is a good example, there's some cheese factories that make so many varieties of cheeses from different brands, because imagine if we had an industrial sized cheese factory for every brand. Doesn't make sense.

Gareth, you mentioned that the burgers were so alike that they could have been made in the same factory. Some years ago I did some contract work at a leading brand frozen vegetable processing plant. I saw the whole process from the delivery of the vegetables by trucks, to the packaging at the end. The only difference in the end product was the name on the packaging label. There were several different popular brand names and also a few generic brands. The product in the packages was exactly the same. That is why, when I buy frozen vegetables now, I usually go for the generic brand which is often less than half the price of the leading brand names.

There's a large food factory near me and I know they produce all kinds of pizzas, burgers, pies, and prepacked salads for various retailers. Just a slight tweak of the recipe, a different box and bingo! But this approach only works when the food is up to standard. I can remember, many years ago now, that Aldi and Lidl products were noticeably inferior in taste, but both these retailers have worked really hard in recent years to raise the quality as it was the only way to go. I expect they have a really efficient research kitchen and team, plus both companies are ruthless when it comes to turning a profit.

A guy I worked with used to work at a bakery they used to do bread for several big names same bread just different bags It goes to show that its sometime food snobbery can cost you more for the same product

Sorry to have a 'dig' , but one of your other videos you liked the 'more expensive one just because of the batter. Did the meat taste the same or not ? Maybe a slight more test tasting. DO enjoy what you do. Keep it coming.

yes both tasted great just preferred the tasty batter on one to the other.

The birds eye ones are awful. That coating ruins it. I ate it as I was hungry but didn't enjoy it one bit. Don't waste your money unless you like coating which is popped rice filled with oil.
