I worked as a fitter in several food factories over the years and you'd be amazed at how many products go in different packages to different supermarkets with vastly different pricing! Yet it's the exact same product!

@@shinlee3921 when I was at college I had a twilight shift at a chicken factory. Marks and Spencer came out from the same production line as Morrison’s own brand and Buxted brand and unbranded. When the bigwigs from Marks &Sparks came to visit we all had to be super clean, health & safety, clothes etc.

When i was at university one of my friends had worked in a biscuit factory. There were no particular posh ones or cheap ones. Some went in Happy shopper boxes, others in m&s boxes. They were all the same product but the packaging determined the market and the price! I'm sure this happens with hundreds of products that we buy x

Same factory doesn't mean same recipe, it's kind of a myth that gets put around a lot. It just makes sense to mass produce similar products in locations were the machinery is available to properly make them. Cheese is a good example, there's some cheese factories that make so many varieties of cheeses from different brands, because imagine if we had an industrial sized cheese factory for every brand. Doesn't make sense.

Gareth, you mentioned that the burgers were so alike that they could have been made in the same factory. Some years ago I did some contract work at a leading brand frozen vegetable processing plant. I saw the whole process from the delivery of the vegetables by trucks, to the packaging at the end. The only difference in the end product was the name on the packaging label. There were several different popular brand names and also a few generic brands. The product in the packages was exactly the same. That is why, when I buy frozen vegetables now, I usually go for the generic brand which is often less than half the price of the leading brand names.

Got fed up with the increases in price together with the failing quality of fresh meat, fruit and veg, Went to ALDI and found the cost and quality to my advantage. The result has been a £600 to £700 annual tax free pay rise. People take their Waitrose and M&S shopping bags but the contents are from ALDI 😂 😂

By law they have to lable the factory info where the produce is from. If that was the case eveythting would have the same info on the box. No need to make a story up just to try convice people cheap food is the same as the high priced stuff. When in fact the this is not true at all. Birds eye have there own factory they don't produce any for aldi at all.

They would be made at the same factory, slightly different ingredients. I know a guy who worked at a fresh juice factory, they produced Orange juice for Aldi, Woolworths, Coles etc. The difference was the processing, they had their own ways the Supermarket wanted it processed. Aldi was the best 100% fresh Orange juice with pulp. 99% fresh Orange juice without pulp. No preservatives at all. Cheers Debra from Melbourne Australia xxx

I have worked in several food factories over the years, Speedibake and Cranshaws to name a couple and the only difference in quality is in packaging. Happy shopper, Tesco, waitrose etc garlic bread was identical products cooked on the same line. Same with sliced meats and pies, M&S, CO-OP, Tescos, Aldi are all supplied from the same packaging firm. Sometimes the cuts may differ in thickness but the meats are identical.

We have a cracking Aldi where I live, along with an absolutely brilliant Iceland Food Warehouse. My wife does most of our shopping at Aldi; and I get my favourite stuff from Food Warehouse once a month. We nearly always go for Aldi and Iceland products over brands such as Birdseye.

thanks well you can give them a try that dont harm. Its what your used to but your taste buds adapt. Think Aldi ones are considerably cheaper.

I always buy the birdseye ones, but looking at your video I would say they are the same burgers, the packing code is identical , but it's on a lot of birdeye produce, they do taste good , I like a little bit of Branston pickle on mine , wife says I'm a disgusting pig lol great video again mate, keep safe

There's a large food factory near me and I know they produce all kinds of pizzas, burgers, pies, and prepacked salads for various retailers. Just a slight tweak of the recipe, a different box and bingo! But this approach only works when the food is up to standard. I can remember, many years ago now, that Aldi and Lidl products were noticeably inferior in taste, but both these retailers have worked really hard in recent years to raise the quality as it was the only way to go. I expect they have a really efficient research kitchen and team, plus both companies are ruthless when it comes to turning a profit.

A lot of food products are just badged up for different companies an example our lass worked at the Co-op while putting Co-op specially selected soups out on to the shelves she came accross a Sainsburys specially selected obviously when they changed packaging this one slipped through the net. A guy I worked with used to work at a bakery they used to do bread for several big names same bread just different bags It goes to show that its sometime food snobbery can cost you more for the same product

Nice review today Gareth. It was a really good comparison between the two chicken breast burgers. Shame you didn't weigh them to see just how close % of weight there was between them. The 2 burgers with the Frank's looked superb 🤤 Mate we are in a chicken famine here in Australia because omicron has production staff out of work. Even KFC has cut some items and rationing the amount of chicken one can buy. Hardly a chook on supermarket shelves 😕. Cheers 👍😀🇦🇺

Sorry to have a 'dig' , but one of your other videos you liked the 'more expensive one just because of the batter. Did the meat taste the same or not ? Maybe a slight more test tasting. DO enjoy what you do. Keep it coming.
