I remember when these first appeared on the shelves early 1970's. Made by golden wonder and cost 7& half pence. My brother's and I spent some of our pocket money on them instead of our usual sherbet dibs & Tom thumbs etc. That was my first and last pot noodle. 🤪

I've had hundreds of Pot Noodles in my time, & I've had the line up from Aldi, not really impressed with them to be perfectly honest, I ALWAYS end up coming back to the original Chicken & Mushroom proper one, my tried & tested way of making one of these is to add a teaspoon of curry powder, maybe a dash of Cayene Pepper, some salt & black pepper, then the soy sauce, fill with boiling water to a tiny bit over the line, give it a mega stir to get up all the bits from around the bottom, & then THE IMPORTANT BIT ---- pop it in the centre of the microwave for 30 seconds on full power, it really does soften the noodles up perfectly & all the juices get well soaked in, leave for at least 10 minutes & enjoy, trust me, you will NEVER eat one the old way again.

I like the flavour and mouth feel of the original pot noodles, there more sturdy pots make them easier to hold and keep the contents hot longer. I keep the pots and reuse them with maggi noodles and the missus uses them as plant pots for herbs etc after i drill afew hole in the bottom. I always get the bog standard chicken and mushroom pot noodle and if i am at home i use PRB or LKK gold soy sauce rather than the supplied sachet as to me and the missus it has abit of a metalic after taste from the hydrolyzed soy sauce they use rather than brewed type.

Hi Gareth. We do get a big selection of Pot Noodles here, but our boys big favourite is Carbonara, which is sold in an envelope pack, with two small liquid packs to add. Do in a wok, heat 400ml water with the noodles until they are soft. Drain some of the water out and put in a dish, add the flavouring and oil, about 5 cc of each, mix and enjoy !!

I tried the curry and chicken and mushroom Aldi pot noodles over the weekend and I quite liked them. When I made the curry one, I added the water and then got side tracked for a good ten minutes and when I came back to it the pot noodle was really thick. The calories are from the noodles and palm oil, full of sat fat for such a little pot. Then full of salt too. Packet noodles are the same, but I throw the packet away and make my own mix, or if im doing a few packs ill add one satchet then some extra bits myself. Can get simple dry noodles with no added fats which are better but alot more bland so need to add the right amount of flavour yourself

Sweet and Sour is my favourite and I Always put a splash of lemon juice or vinegar in to make it more sour. I like Bombay Bad Boy and beef too but not the chicken. 'Pot Death' 😏. Haven't ever had one and am not really inclined to start now. That long list of 'ingredients' makes me nervous .. the more 'E-whatevers' and stuff ending in 'ates' and 'ites' therein, the more so. I do occasionally scoff down the packet 'Instant Noodles' (without the Flavour pack .. I add my own concoction) and then mostly as a 'filler' with something else. You're correct, the Aldi version, can be boosted with flavorings gleaned from most kitchen Spice Racks. A good Channel this, with valuable info therein .. thanks for taking the trouble. Take care ..

Hello from across the bay, hope you’re doing well / I just figured it out - you were rough after the night in the ale right - it wasn’t the ale that did it - it was the mix of pot death !

It ws called Firecracker and l couldnt get enough of them, but it has disappeared the last couple of weeks. But shopping at Aldi and Lidl you seem get used to things are there one week and not another. But yes its the best Pot noodle l have had for sure

@@BaldFoodieGuy no way you’ve got to be joking mate everyone i know eats them by far the best noodles on the market probably because they’re Japanese 😜👍🏻
@BaldFoodieGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yes it's the smell of them. That soya stink lol
@Spudchucker922 жыл бұрын
When it comes to Pot Noodles, my go to flavours are chicken & mushroom, and beef & tomato. Always add a splash extra soy sauce or tomato ketchup. Plus I add just the tiniest bit of garlic powder for another layer of taste, but really not much otherwise it ruins the flavour. In terms of my favourite instant noodles as a whole, Nissin chilli Soba noodles are fantastic. They taste gorgeous but are a bit lacking in serving amount for the price. I only get them when they're on a deal. The yakitori chicken flavour Soba noodles are good too.

Ya can't beat Pot Noodle for a quick snack, especially Chicken & mushroom.... just don't add too much water.
