@johncampbell7562 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmayfield3158 Aldo, unlike Tom, also played the drums. Tom squeezed Sib Hashian's (sp RIP) kit into his basement. And, as you know, the final track on Boston was recorded by the full band in Los Angeles, which is why it sounds different. The only negative about learning how Boston came about was learning that the seemingly autobiographical "Rock and Roll Band" was BS as the band had never played live before recording the album.

Pretty sure that Aldo Nova played lead on Bon Jovi's first album and Ritchie came on board after & had to play Aldo's riffs for the rest of his life. For me, had the cassette and thought this song was an appropriate introduction of myself as it was the first song I "cranked". There were no lyrics in the tape and long since forgot about this guy and this song. So today was the first time I saw all the lyrics. Don't think I got the coke reference back on '82. Not much more on that album was or is memorable, but we bought the whole thing, so we'd listen to the whole thing good and bad. Sometimes we'd grow to like other songs that didn't seem so great at first listen. We didn't always need instant gratification back then. Not saying that today or yesterday was wrong, just different and tomorrow will be as well. Enjoy your videos and look forward to seeing more!

Aldo Nova refers here specifically to my hometown of Montreal, where he was, like me, a teen during the 1970s and aa young man in the 80s. Downtown has all kinds of distractions for the young generation of any era, and is well worth visiting. Also, until the 2000s, those luxury Downtown highrise apartments were dirt-cheap, compared to other cities in North America. I loved living there, being able to walk anywhere in 20 minutes or less, beautiful women famous around the world for their elegance.

Thank God for Canada in the early 1980s. As a child of the 1970s, rock and roll was all but dead by around 1980. In smaller markets ( I lived in upstate NY back then) hard rock radio stations were being reborn as soft rock stations. Almost overnight, the only hard rock I had to listen to was my own record collection. However, Canada continued to churn out some great hard rock like this, Triumph, Red Rider and others.

A little story. Years later after this came out I was working at a Walgreens and we had a new lady name Caroline who became our Cosmetics specialist. She was probably late 20s and I was 19 and I was in charge of teaching here how to take inventory etc. I use to drive her home as her husband would drop her off and she'd have to catch rides home. One day I'd let her read a "new song I wrote" called Just a Fantasy(this song😂). She looked it over and loved it, but was changing a few words/lines to make it more Motown sounding. As a black woman she was all telling me to get a record label and sing it.🤔 Well. One day taking her home I popped in the cassette and handed her the words "I'd written" and man you should have seen her read/singing it. She legit thought it was me singing playing the song on tape.🤦♂️😂 When I went to drop her off I told her it wasn't me etc. Man she was pissed! Lmao. She thought I was gonna make it big time and she wanted to be my first fan.🤷♂️
