thought provoking points put forward by Floyd, hes clearly very erudite and well researched, but the one thing that is certain to undermine their potential for winning the hearts and minds of the majorty of SAns is their attitude (not necessarily their actual policy position) on immigration, legal or otherwise, their insistence on promoting noble but misdirected pie in the sky pan africanist ideals at the expense of the plight of the average south african who is impoverished and barely surviving has alienated thousands if not millions of potential voters who'd otherwise vote for the Eff. You can't seriously put outsiders before your own people in the name of an ideology that none of the foreigners in question (fellow africans as they are) are practicing or have ever practiced in any meaningful manner and expect to be taken seriously by the people you're trying to win over. The fact that the industrial base of the SAn economy was partly built on the back of manual labour from neighboring countries might not be in dispute, but it is a weak argument to advance because 1. Why excatly would foreigners be entitle to the same benefits that rightly belong to the citezens of this country, are SAns entitled to the same in these african countries or even elsewhere? 2. The economic conditions and developments in relation to the era that Floyd and those who're pushing the "we're all africans" rhetoric were way diffrent (in both character and pace) to what they are today because South africa was a burgeoning industrial powerhouse that neeeded a large supply of "dirt cheap" manual laborers for its many industrial projects, and so it could afford to absorb both local and foreign workers because the demand for the numbers was there. Today we have a significantly less demand in terms of the numbers in manual laborers in any industry because our economy is not only small but its not growing at all because of our failed capitalist economic policies, and so simple logic dictates that you allocate whatever opportunities there are to locals first because they're rightly you're priority as a caring and responsible government, foreigners are not, they're a responsibility of their own governments, not the SA government. 3. Their rhetoric essentially absolves these people of the responsibility that they themselves have to take in doing what they must to fix their own problems and thereby this strips away their agency to free themselves and fosters the impression that SA is this perpetual nanny state to immigrants from every collapsed and disfunctional African (and to some extend Asian) economies, ironically this stance seems to ignore the fact that SA itself is literally on its knees with a catastrophic 70% youth unemployment and an expanded +40% general unemployment rate which is worsening. And so the "african father Christman" mentality of the Eff in this regard is just wishfull thinking and pie in the skyish, i reject it and so do millions others

This utopian idea about integrated development within the continent is just an unattainable pipe dream, at least for now, individual countries should 1st and foremost fix themselves, sort out their governance, human rights and their domestic economic issues. Africa cannot work as a collective when we don't see eye to eye on so many issues. OAU was formed in 1963 to precisely achieve this Idea. The OAU chatter spelled out the purpose of the organization, namely - To promote the unity and solidarity of the African States; - To coordinate and intensify their cooperation and efforts to achieve a better life for the peoples of Africa; - To defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity and independence; - To eradicate all forms of colonialism from Africa; and - To promote international cooperation, having due regard to the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To date not much has been achieved in the accomplishment of these ideals. African member states are simply not motivated enough to strive for these changes, we cannot achieve collaboration until each member state is in good standing as far as being accountable 1st and foremost to its citizens. If you are broken , you cannot be fixed by being in a relationship with someone else.

I’m falling to understand something with such comments, currently we have boarders and we have so many Africans in SA and just during the festive season there was a bus full of kids trafficked from Zimbabwe which was caught at Bloemfontein going to Cape Town how did that bus cross the border?
