I just hope the remake won't follow this trend of overly childish pokemon games, and will embrace the mature and solemn aura of Sinnoh. Yes, It's a game for kids. And a kid I was when Sinnoh showed me that places and communities didn't need to evoque constant happiness for them to be beautiful. There's beauty in silence and respect.

I hope they dont ruin Sinnoh in the remakes, even ORAS good as it was felt very kid friendly, I really want the new DPP to be more challenging and with the same aura, but after seeing Sun, Moon, US, UM and Sword / Shield I realised that we are screwed, each new game gamfreak just dumbs down the games and makes the story feel less and less meaningful, I am playing through Shield now and this new team is just annoying, unrepeatable and unneeded, even team plasma was relatable and you could see where Cyrus was coming from.

Diamond and pearl were more visual story telling while black and white were dialog story telling I'm hoping that sword and shield can at least try to match the quality of Gen 4 or 5 Though gen 7 didn't have a bad story it was just way to hand holdy And Gen 6 I haven't replayed it since it came out so that says a lot about that game, not a bad game per se but the story wasn't good
@commonviewer2488

@@pralenkaman8105 You could see attempts at a good story in XY, but the game never followed through with the elements it began with. A king gone mad after losing his Pokémon to war, obsessed over building a michine with two goals: reviving the dead, and ending the conflict with mass death on all sides. After an immeasurable amount of death, the King's beloved Pokémon leaves him, horrified at the atrocities he had committed for its sake. The king is left alone, wandering in a desolate land, inadvertently cursing himself with immortality with the same machine that claimed so much life, in contemplation of what he had done. Hundreds of years later, he learns his lesson, and his Pokémon comes back. I skipped over a few details in between, but they are minor. This was not a fleshed out story.

Emerald did it first and better though... platinum really can't say that is it better since it's about 95% the same story with 1 or 2 added areas. At least in emerald they added some areas and then made places in the post game (that you didn't have head to in RS) you have to go in Emerald. Hoenn has the best pacing in any region, not to fast not to slow. I love sinnoh but hoenn takes the cake for me.

I don't get it, I remember playing D & P at launch and I really liked it. But when Platnium came out, it seemed like a rehash of D & P but added Giritiana (idk how to spell it) and ironed out the technical problems of D & P but that's it. It was basically replaying the same game but with slight differences, like what's the big deal behind that? Am I missing something, I haven't played that since launch so maybe.

Gen 4 easily had the most developed lore out of the gens leading up to it. 1 had Mew and Mewtwo being these obscure burned notes in a spooky mansion, but that was it. Gen 2 honestly has fairly weak lore because they jampacked so much content that they didn't have time to flesh out anything other than Lugia/Ho-oh. 3 had a lot of good stuff, but lacked postgame content. 4 flexed on every gen in nearly every area, especially with all the awesome legendaries and lore.

I would have to say Gens 3&4 were Pokemon's Peak, while Gen 5 was where the fall started. Still Gen 5 was good even though it had lesser quality designs & countless mistakes made with its anime. The worst Mystery Dungeon game also came out during Gen 5, while Gen 3 had greats like 1st Mystery Dungeon, & the Shadow Pokemon Duology, along with the last Pokemon Pinball game. Each Gen starting with 5 has been a step down from the Generation before it.

I would like to add something about Veilstone city. Veistone is a city of entertainment, where people are allowed to forget about all of what is going on with there life and have fun. From the common employee who wants to escape from his endless routine, to the youth who just want to have a break from a society they don't necessarily relate to. This is a city of outcast people that can't really adapt to life, and must have their void filled with never-ending entertainment to go on with life. And so I think this is a very clever touch to put de galactic HQ in this city. Because the evil team is often composed of lost, outcast young people who are influenceable, and so an easy target for Cyrus to get them radicalized. Cyrus must certainly have known what he was doing when he choose the localization of his HQ, which makes him even eviler and cool to me. (sorry if my English is weird I'm not an English native haha, I don't want to know of much time it took me to write this comment)

Also the city name is VEILstone city. Veils are used to hide things. You could say that the entertainment is a way to put a metaphorical veil on the residents’ eyes. Also, Cyrus can quickly and shockingly remove the veil from individuals, radicalizing them.

Sinnoh is honestly perfect. The games had a rough start with Diamond and Pearl, on the technical side, but the region itself and the content offered was immense. So many improvements to the mechanics of the game too and a fantastic amount of content that was improved on even further in Platinum. the original kino's journey was a wonderful and at times horrifying watch very interesting and made you think i mean REALLY THINK. its one of the few philosophical oriented anime i know of and have watched and it really dives into the worlds. the art in it may be a little dated but i would definitely take the original over the 2017 remake any day. having watched the OG years before the remake was made the voice actor change of 2017 was too jarring for me. and in my opinion didn't fit the characters Kino and Hermes as well as the original. the original had more continuity and stories and while kino was and will always be a badass girl the focus was more on the philosophical scenarios each country faced and her experiences with them. it is a wonderful series though it has a much slower pace than the 2017 remake the payoff is much greater and leaves a greater and lasting impact on you. ahh i just realized i went off on a tangent of how much i love the original 2003 kino's journey. but hopefully there will be some you take this to heart and give the original kino's journey a watch and come to enjoy it as much as i did and still do

Hoenn had a lot of landmarks and event-like occurances(good) but the balance of the game after a certain point(maybe gym 5 idk) becomes almost all water-oriented with fish-pokemon literally everywhere and it becomes awkward or even impossible to level non Blaziken(fighting on the sharpido) pokemon that are weak to water. Gen 3 had some serious balance problems when it came to party management.

Sinnoh has long since been my favorite region (tied with Hoenn) largely because I absolutely LOVE cold/icy areas and also because I can really get into the atmosphere there. The slow-paced nature of the region paired with some of the absolute best music In the series leaves me with a good amount of time to enjoy my adventure with my character's Pokemon as we experience the region and grow together as a team. It never really feels like I'm just going through a place as a pit stop to the get to the cool parts of my journey, but rather I find myself looking forward to getting to a location I know I really like while kind of dreading the fact that I have to leave the place I'm at currently. I seriously cannot watch anyone else play a Sinnoh game before I want to stop the video and start up a new game of Platinum. To me, Gens 3, 4, & 5 while all different, have a kind of heart to them that I love despite my inability to explain that aspect of them very well. Also I wish I could subscribe TWICE for what you said about Eterna Forest, Canalave City and Northern Sinnoh. I never really want to leave those areas once I get there even though I know I need to beat the game.

4th gen is my favourite, probably because A: it was the first pokemon game i played when i was old enough to appreciate it. I couldn't read when i stole Blue version from my brother and played it through just liking the cool monsters) B: It was incredibly comfy. There's just something soothing about playing through this gen C: It's very similar in a lot of places to the area i live in. Similar climate and appearance (minus the big mountain, though an especially large moor nearby filled that gap in my young mind).

I’ve always felt gen 4 has had the most bang for its buck. Hgss just have an enormous amount of content between the two regions and d/p/pt being based in the sinnoh region have always had a grandiose feeling about them. Even once the game is completed it always feels like there is somewhere to explore. Sinnoh is the only region that feels like a whole country with lots of unique areas that are worth exploring, I’m glad pearl was my first game and that I got to experience the most dynamic and intriguing region first. Maybe it’s just my nostalgia talking but I feel like gen 4 was when the Pokémon franchise was at its peak aesthetic, art style, game play, story writing and over all vibe; especially in the overworld. Come to think of it as I’m writing this comment I realise the post game in sinnoh, where you unlock access to the island with the survival area, that honestly feels like an entire alolan island.

absolutely man. The sinnoh region reminds me of home and the emotional music compliments the amazing atmosphere - the snow, the forests, the lore. Everything just touches me. I adore the 4th generation and there is so much diversity in the land. I appreciate this video so much man

I live in Ohio & Sinnoh always seemed like somewhere so much better than where I live to me. Sinnoh is a place where it actually snows plenty, & there's beauty throughout. Not some diseased land of hopelessness that's ugly & full of pollution like Ohio is.

I've been a die-hard fan since the very beginning with Red and Blue. Sword and Shield are the very first entries in the main series I firmly decided against buying, so I really needed this trip down memory lane to remind me what the series used to be. Even though Sinnoh/Gen 4 wasn't my personal favorite, it's one that I still put an obscene amount of hours into. It introduced online competitive play and changed the landscape of battles for me forever, so it definitely holds a very special place for me. Thanks for the video and making me reevaluate how painstakingly incredible Gen 4 actually was at the time!

Nate That's awesome if you're enjoying the game. I hope you get the most out of it by making new friends and having plenty of fond memories associated with the franschise as a whole to look back on. However, I think I'm still going to pass on Sword and Shield. Like I mentioned in my first comment, online competitive battles is what revolutionized the series for me and became the one aspect that always kept me coming back to the games when all other aspects fell kinda short. Losing the National Dex, having so many of my favorite Pokemon since day one cut out, having some of my favorite moves cut out, radically affects the meta and overall fun of battles. And in general, too much of what I loved about the series was taken away or not included to warrant a buy from me. Maybe that will change later or maybe future installments will give me more of what I want in a Pokemon game, but for now I don't think Sword and Shield are for me.

I miss HMs & hope they make a return in Sinnoh Remakes with a repurpose that makes people stop hating them. Being able to be forgotten at any time under certain conditions or having the game add special moveslots for moves out of battle usage could be interesting to see. I just want HMs back & to be done better than ever before with Sinnoh Remakes & maybe that could be a prototype for HM usage in Gen 9. Rock Climb was an awesome HM we should have gotten again after the days of Gen 4.

I've never put much thought into this before. honestly i think gen 5 has far more distinct cities/villages; castella city - the first proper concrete jungle of pokemon, it is just so well done. they have a constant stream of people walking up and down the streets, adding in a dark alleyway with a hidden bar and street performers. these aspects all reflect the business-driven but lively atmosphere of bustling capital cities around the world (although originally based on NewYork). They also use adjusting camera angles (i believe introduced in gen5) to show different parts of the city at it's best angles, further immersing the player. In the alleyway, the camera angle is lowered down to around the same height as the player, close to a first/second-person perspective, so one could feel the same uneasiness as walking down a real dark alleyway. nimbasa city - the second largest city is structured like the cities of previous gens, with no camera angle shenanigans. it's got a sports dome, a pokemon fashion/dance contest building, an amusement park of sorts and the underground battle train station in the center. it could seem like buildings were placed here because they didn't match castellia city's aesthetic, or there wasn't enough space, i agree to an extent because an underground train system matches castella (Newyork) more. however, I believe nimbasa represents capital cities like Berlin which hold a historic presence with old architecture, but have fused with modern culture. It's possible that these 2 major cities reflect the themes of Truth Vs Ideals, where one city shows the true form of society, business-driven, compact and efficient. while in the other city, there's a number of leisure and entertainment facilities provided for the people there. other notable cities have: cold storage warehouses, an airplane runway, and old train sheds converted into houses. the landmarks, instead of johto's towers or sinnoh's lakes, are bridges. they use different suitable camera angles for the bridges, emphasizing the design of each. not to forget the self-explanatory, Village Bridge. although the cities are more distinct, there is not the same realism in climate that you have complimented sinnoh for. at one point you're in a highly developed city, the next you're in a desert... oh wait, that's literally Dubai. anyway, I think the peeps in development used the large scale of the land (crossing multiple large bridges) to cover-up inconsistencies in climate. BW2 brings it up a level further but i won't get into that. I recommend BW(+2) if you havn't played it and have the time.

The layout off nova was always off putting to me. Entralink in the center of the map, random desert above the city, Ns castle buried beneath the Pokemon league (how does that even work)? Thematically gen 5 was arguably the best. Geographically it was pretty bad to me.
