The young Aled Jones was not only a remarkable treble, but he also had the composure and carriage, of a seasoned professional. Fantastic performance by both the orchestra and treble prodigy.

What a beautiful version- wish the speakers and recordings did it justice! I have a new appreciation of Aled Jones being older and seeing a boy making his mum proud.

어린 Aled Jones 영상을 보며 DQ LEE의 모습이 오버랩되네요 이동규님의 성장시절 CD를 닳도록 들은 그 분을 이리봅니다 반갑습니다 ❤❤🎉🎉

The idea of a treble singing this ought to be ridiculous, but Aled's brilliance and extraordinary presence defy that logic. The only other example I can think of is Alex Prior singing "Nessun Dorma" before the voice break. It shouldn't work, but the boy's outstanding talent makes it.

Aled as a child always sang with understanding. He brought a precocious degree of emotional maturity to his singing. That is one of the rare aspects of his wonderful gift.

It's a non-stop smile that comes over me when I hear you sing as a boy, Aled. Am I allowed to ask why you didn't train to become a countertenor? Is it that easy- simply choosing? Either way, now and then you have a special gift. I imagine that's something like the sound of heaven's choristers and you sing for many of us with the voice we didn't get ;)

His voice changed to a baritone, not as tenor (which is what he wanted). He didn’t get to chose how his voice broke.

I realize this was posted 12 years ago and the poster, if even still active on YT, likely realized long ago...But in case not, or for anyone else who may come across and benefit...I would like to point-out that from all appearances, this channel was created and maintained by a fan of Aled Jones and it is extremely unlikely that he (the singer himself) would respond, or even see, anything posted here.

@stad97 This programme first aired on UK tv on the 21st June 1985 when Aled was aged 14.

@stad97 I wouldn' have thought that mini mics were invented in those days, if you look to Aled's right, there appears to be a microphone stand or something towards the front of the stage.

@HerbicidalManiac I once discussed with Aled (as an adult) the possibility of him singing countertenor. He indicated that he was thinking of going in that direction. I'm really disappointed that he didn't, because I thought that he had already learned a lot of the technique that it was going to take.
