How's it doing now? I just purchased it but not too sure how to do all the electrical and potential welding work

everything still good. Only issue is the ground itself. The gate itself is so heavy that it will sink in to the ground anywhere there is insufficient Pavement or concrete. the part behind the shed needs to be paved. The track in using tends to wreck the wheels and fill up with grit.

Hows the gate opener holding up? Any issues or concerns with somebody who is planning on building a sliding gate?

ddemier ddemier gate opener is solid. Only issue I had was the key code entry device failed in a couple months. I just grease the chain now and again.

Hi same question as others is it still working? Also roughly what kind of range has the little remote? Like could you hit open as you drive up the road a few hundred meters away and let it open as approach or will it only work when it has line of sight?

gordon graham it is still working very well. I have since replaced the concrete in the weak spots and that helped a great deal. The range of the transmitter is excellent. far superior to my brand new Liftmaster8500 Garage Door opener. I didn't even connect the optional antenna and I easily get a few hundred meters range. I installed a camera to aid in backing up my boat and I can test to see when the gate starts opening. I did re-grease the chain and that helped quiet it down. I do suggest installing the opener to a concrete base. I did not do this and it causes a fair bit of jarring. I also bought some more remotes for it. I have the keypad opener and some of the key chain openers. They also work well and can be found on amazon for cheap. Only issue is I cannot get pedestrian mode to work. It seems to have a defect on that. No biggie. Of note the base has started to rust a bit despite my numerous coats of tremclad. But I took the cover off and the guts of it look like new. No corrosion at all and this was the rainiest year we have ever had in Alberta.

John Molberg cool thanks for replying. You mentioned a keypad opener. Is that like a keypad you can have a code on so a delivery person or something can open it using a code? That would be handy. I thought it only had the Keychain type ones. Is the keypad hard wired to the motor or also uses a radio system like the Keychain ones

gordon graham it is a wireless keypad. You configure it to use a password of your choice. I affixed it to a post in the alley. It is product number LM 171 by Aleko. It is slightly more expensive than the key chains but worth it. I found the batteries died within a year so I suggest buying backup CR2032 button batteries. They are dirt cheap if you buy them on Amazon and wait for a month on shipping. (Hint: always buy the ones stamped Made in Japan)

what is the material used for the panels. How did u attach the panel to the frame.

The panel is made some individual slats of tongue and groove pine. They were spray painted prior to installation. I attached them by drilling and screwing in to the steel cross members. This took several hours and broke many many drill bits. If doing again, I would attached a single piece of wood to each cross member and then drill in to that. It would have saved me a lot of drill bits and blisters. (and it would also flex better in temperature changes)

how do you lock it? is there a part when you close your gate it locks and vise versa?
@johnniemo
@johnniemo 5 жыл бұрын
mase202 it doesn’t lock. However it is very heavy and combined with the gear drive it is pretty much impossible to move.

Still works fine. I just needed to oil the chain. It got a bit rusty. No issues otherwise.
