This has been encouraging to me. It’s pretty much what I’m doing. My shop has been open for less than 2 weeks so far. My plan is to add one product every day for 100 days without worrying about sales. It’s a mug shop with some uniquely odd, funny, wry graphics and text all created by me (no AI). I’ve sold 5 mugs so far. Feeling pretty good about that! Especially after watching your video.

Triggered in a good way by your video...subbed and I got the message. I've had a poverty mentality from childhood. Parents meant well, but I was always taught "limited or fixed income"...."need a job with benefits".....programming....programming...and the whole time, I knew it wasn't truth. It was difficult. I tried to get my mom to think differently but the poverty programming was so ingrained, she couldn't be rescued from it. Now, I'm having to learn a whole new way about making money. Thank you for giving me hope, especially in these times we are living in.

Same here. When I was six or seven I once asked my Mom if we were poor. She jerked my arm in annoyance and replied, "You KNOW we are!" I never forgot that. Plus other beliefs of the time - like rich people are all crooks or selfish - must steer clear of them. The other thing was that it was my job to work hard, be good and never make any waves. Just kinda stay faded into the wallpaper. True, they meant well.

The idea that it's not just some specially talented or super energetic people who can make this work but those who can commit to a steady process UNTIL it works is paramount. So appreciated. Some say it's fine to list a variety of items on one shop as long as your target buyer is the same for all those items, but I can now see how this dilutes one's efforts. Some light bulbs came on about commitment and process which now has me more hopeful. Awesome!

Easier said than done. POD can be challenging. One of the biggest challenges is the e-commerce platforms like Etsy or Shopify. Many KZbin presentations like this one fail to mention e-commerce platforms have many fees after the free trial period ends and if a POD shop has not made any sales, the fees begin to stack up. Nothing is for free and there are costs involved in any business includeing POD shops. Secondly, e-commerce platforms like Etsy and Shopify can and will suspend or shutdown your online store for any reason without an explanation thus putting an end to the online store owner's revenue. This business can be a nightmare. Build a stand alone online store and try to stay away from Etsy and Shopify; they are a scam and can be financially risky. However, it is something one has to put time and effort into as was stated in this presentation.

What makes it a "scam" exactly? The fact that they charge even if your products are not selling? I guess what I'm asking is, whatever makes it a "scam", is it something that they do not disclose or do you just feel that their process is unfair?! Just curious as I have been researching passive POD where the customers pay first VS the seller paying first before products are made.

I have been advised to check the terms & conditions of the AI tool first. Some are clearer than others. Sarah Chrisp @wholesaleted recommends DallE2 for AI products. Whether you tell your customers its AI generated or not seems to be a personal issue there is no legal right to declare This may change in future if the law ever catches up with AI stuff 😂😂 Always good to seek professional legal advice if its a concern

Great video! I was one of those people last year watched so many of your videos and thought i couldn't do it or was overwhelmed by the whole thing but now i wish i tried than being overwhelmed. So, this time I downloaded your quick start and read through the steps but what about returns when a customer wants to return the product, does the customer return the product to Printfy or where? Who manages the return of the product if print on demand is automated? Thanks so much!

Let's see if I got it right: 1. Persist in the face of adversity. Doing the same thing repeatedly does produce different results in 1% of cases. Who is insane now?! 2. Flood the market with a single (type of) product. I.e. "focus" 3. Open multiple shops (you have 6) - for some reason, having 6 product types in a single shop is detrimental. 4. The 99% failure rate includes people who didn't even start (or even care to start)

Personally it wasn't anything about the amount of people that sell. It was all the extra fees no one talks about, were you bearly get any profit margins (thanks to VAT in the UK) and the constant subscriptions you'd have to buy to stay ahead of the heard, crossed with huge uncertainty that the trend you've researched will actually sustain... because everything on the Internets a lie. Along with being burnt out with your 9-5 job. There's many reasons why people don't start. I've bearly scratched the service here. But I'd say the main one for me was trying to learn everything, and becoming overwhelmed by it all, watching too many tutorials online will do that. Just get started and learn as you go, don't chase the money, do it for fun.

I opened an Etsy shop last year. Today I was bored at work and took my time and finally put my first cup online. - honestly, I don’t believe it will work. But I would hate myself if I haven’t tried. Or better said, I would always ask myself if it could have worked. Also I only got the idea of that kind of business last summer. So it took me some months from the idea to open a shop and another months to finally go online with my first product. I hope I can be able to consistently publish designs until someone maybe buys something. There are some drawings in my sketchbooks which only wait to be digitalised and maybe even liked.

Hi when you say, "you focus on one product". Does that mean, let’s say focusing on mugs for instant. But you can show a 100 designs for that mug? Love the video 👍👍👍

Love watching this encouraging content! Just wondering...How do you get the sales stats for the shops you featured? Is that public info?

Thanks Alek. I needed this video, been at this business model a month, had some success, half a dozen sales and worked with some influencers but I’m nowhere near where I want to be. Doesn’t help Etsy banned my shop day 1 for no reason without even telling me why, I didn’t even get chance to post a product 😂

Great advice. I've made thousands of sales on etsy and I'm no one special. Just study every aspect of the business and work hard.

The Valley of Despair is real, folks! But as they say, tough times don't last, tough people do. Learning to embrace the process and stay consistent, even when it feels like you're not making progress, is key.

not taking anything from the video but its important to note that those revenues are gross and we dont really know how much the profit is when you take out POD fees and Ads fees

The shops that are selling the digital prints like the pictures, what and who are they using to place the print on?

I really like the contents of this video, just one thing feels kind of strange - when refering to AntiqueWhiteArt you say they're using AI but the zoomed in section of their page with a red-marked "AI" is actually their Legal Information section and there's nothing about them using AI, rather they prohibit using AI for derivative works based on their designs...
