Alena Murang - We Watched The Clouds (Acapella Chant)

We Watched The Clouds, the second track on my album, is a benging chant passed to me by my father. Sung by our forefathers in the times of migration, the chant is sung by a man wearing his fine barkcloth jacket, standing at one end of the longhouse, looking up at the sky. The shapes of the clouds are telling of a good time to migrate. They later migrated to Pa Luan where they built a village, which is where my father was born.
A benging is a type of Kelabit chant traditionally sung by men, in a certain form and rhythm. Each benging differs slightly from singer to singer.
