Hey just so you know French is the first language in Montreal not the second, all of Canada is bilingual and most places have English as the first language but Quebec is one of the exceptions

^^^ This. The McGill campus is an exception to this rule generally, but as you move farther away from campus french becomes more and more prominent.

You can get every meal, every day on the plan but if you do you will run out of money before winter break, especially if you like getting desserts and lots of other extras. You'll have to get some meals at cafes/restaurants or cook some yourself too.

Hey just wanted to let you know that at&t offers a package that you can use internationally. It obviously costs more per month than a regular plan but I have a feeling it’s cheaper than a whole new plan. You also get more data. My brother is at uni in Canada so that’s what we do for him.

Quick question, have you ever heard of anyone getting rescinded from McGill during the admission process? There are rumors that the "maintain your current level of academic achievement" phrasing simply means graduate... Any thoughts on this? :)

@shajeedislam1181
@shajeedislam1181 5 жыл бұрын
Not hard. You'll just need to have relevant documentation on you. Go to bank of choice and just tell anybody manning the front of ur intentions. It may be worth just sending an email or calling them beforehand as regards what documents you'll need to open up a student banking account.

Generally, a lot of people are burned out after their first year and head home or work for cash only. A lot of people I know (especially those who were in rez first year) get more comfortable in mtl second year and that year is when a lot of students go for internships and co-ops. Hope this helps! how inconvenient is it to come to McGill as a 17 year old? I got in but I'm a little worried about things like frosh and going out. I am turning 18 in november so it's not too bad, but just wondering if you have any advice or information to share?

I came to McGill as a 17-year-old and it was absolutely no problem. Specifically for frosh, you will have a wristband that says you are underage but you will be let into all of the clubs that the rest of your group goes into - also your frosh leaders will often get drinks for you so I wouldn't worry about that. In terms of 'going out,' you might have to stick to things like fraternity parties until your birthday, but there are some places that might not card you. I personally just waited until my birthday to start going to clubs.

Acceptance rates vary from program to program. Just because you sent everything in does not mean you were competitive compared to other international student candidates. I'm going out of my way to mention this because the university takes pride in its multiculturalism and diversity.
