Not having immunity would increase their chances of staging a coup at the end of their term so that they can avoid accountability for crimes they committed while in office. For example, say they attempted a coup, then not getting immunity for the coup attempt would increase the odds for a President to attempt a coup, not withstanding the fact that he would have already attempted a coup. Talk about a circular and tautological argument. SC Chief Justice talked about a tautological argument today, yet seems oblivious to (or just willfully chooses to ignore) Alito's tautological argument.

The Supreme Court unjustly gave the 2000 election to George W. Bush. His presidency was bad enough but also laid the foundation for further radicalization and corruption of the republican party. The unfairly partisan 2000 SC decision paved the way for MAGA and Trump. So the corruption of the Supreme Court is not all that new. I listened to the entire case and i was infuriated by the way it went. Justices Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Roberts & Gorsich didnt want to go over the facts of the case. Instead their questioning sounded like they were going to create a new law. WTH? The justices have one job, to make a ruling based on the facts of the case. Our government doesnt do their job any more. I am so scared about the direction our country is headed. God help us.

@@brandon3525i believe it is illegitimate for a few reasons. When Kavanaugh was under investigation, Trump intervened- which a president is not supposed to do- and he HALTED the investigation. I believe this was not an appropriate or thorough review of Kavanaugh. They were finding things which embarrassed Kavanaugh and the GOP. That’s not the point. The point is he halted the investigation. Which means it was never completed. Thats first. Second ever potential appointee was asked if they would support present law and court decisions they said yes. And both Amy Coney barrett and Kavanaugh knew they were not going to do that when asked. Their thoughts were already written as hardfast personal positions and should have been sufficient reason to keep them off the court. Also McConnell refused to consider a potential replacement for the court when there was 8 MONTHS left in Obamas term yet rushed thru the Amy appointment in weeks. McConnell laughed about what he did because he knew it was wrong and that he was a hypocrite! There should be written rules and outlines of timeframes in which you can consider an appointment and also rules about the interference of a president or congress. The appointees should be vetted regarding their own financial situation and who is supporting them. Because money corrupts. But we can at least check out initial information about donations. Those are just a few reasons why this court is illegitimate. Aside from being both biased and partisan and as we’ve discovered controlled by money interests. Very corrupt.
