Interesting alarm call of the wildies, they not letting up! Cheetah are such nervous creatures, but to see five together is amazing. Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️ from PE, Eastern Cape South Africa 🇿🇦

That was amazing to watch, and I know Cheetahs have to survive by eating other animals, but what a horrible thought that those Wilderbeest can be going about their day with the possibility that something could come along and eat them! I don't blame them for making such a noise!

The Gnus know, that one adult Cheetah can not hunt them, but in a few month, that may look different. If this would have been a group of males, the Gnus would be gone!

This is awesome! I watched a documentary about how during the pandemic the wildlife flourished because of tourism shutting down. Especially with cheetahs, the reason some cubs got lost or killed was because they couldn't hear their mom's warning chirps over the sound of loud tourist vehicles. 😢 So the cheetah moms had a hard time hunting for food because they couldn't leave their babies or go too far away in fear of losing sight or being out of hearing distance. (Which wasn't far at all because of all the loud noises of the tourism industry)

It was incredible how the absence of humans aloud all those animals to come out of hiding. I was so excited to hear about so many birds and animals that hadn't been seen in decades (centuries even) that came out to explore the now quite environment. People thought some of these animals were extinct. Nature is amazing!!

Maybe I'm underestimating the cheetah, but none of those wildebeest looked small enough for her to take down even if she could isolate one from the herd. Or at least it'd be quite a struggle.

An adult female cheetah with help from cubs can bring down large prey sometimes. Sub-adult to semi-adult gnus are fair game. However wildebeest, despite their size, are timid creatures in general.

Is the camera making the noise coz it seems consistent throughout? Therefore should it be intervening in the natural behaviour? It may have been that because they just need water the wildebeest aren't bothered. Plus a mum of four needs food

You are mistaken! A mother cheetah can indeed feed on wildebeest to feed her babies. She will always focus on the most fragile or that wildebeest aged up to 1 year old. You can be sure she can kill a wildebeest up to one year old. One important thing: wildebeests are not like buffaloes that, when attacked, help each other to free the one being attacked. Despite being in packs, wildebeests only watch another wildebeest being killed a few meters away. It is rare for a wildebeest to release another that is being killed. So puppies, juveniles (up to one year old) or older and injured adults are the target of an attack!

Wildebeest aren't nearly far enough away from the adult cheetah, should she choose to take off after them. However, she has her 4 children in tow, so she's unlikely to take off without them.

It is on a float (similar to a toilet) pumped from a reservoir behind the camera, the reservoir is pumped full from a bore hole and is powered from a solar panel near the camera. You can get more info from the website itself.
