Sara Jo is by far the best one to represent us this year. Complitely agree with you 👍🏻 Although a songs seems repetative and it needs vocally stronger chorus in my opinion, I think that it will get much better with rewamp 🙌🏻 🙌🏻 Her song is produced by one of the best producers in Balkans, so we’ll have to wait and see but the production can only get better, no doubt.. 😁

Angellina, Zorja and Sara Jo are definetly the best, but right now I can't decide on which one I like the most. Angellina is my favourite right now and whose song I would send straight to Eurovision if I had to make decision after the first listening and I don't know how to feel about Sara Jo. Myb Serbia should step away from its comfort zone for once? Also, I don't know what happened with thumbnail of Angellina's song because if you look at it before you click at the video you would see that she looks actually dressed like a pop queen haha.

sara jo is not playing with tempo, it's 9/8 beat. balkan beats are often 7/8 and 9/8, we count "one-two, one-two, one-two, one-two-three" over that 9/8.

Problem in Serbia is that OG fans of one artist automatically start hating on other ones instead of backing up all of them. After all, one of them will represent our country lol. My heart goes to Zorja yes, but I wouldn’t be mad to see Sara go to ESC either, it’s a very cool song but for me it is just a little bit for a club more than a stage. But, it all depends on a live performance and staging- I think Zorja has more potential to slay because here in Serbia we know that she will slay the vocals live and that her staging will follow up. When it comes to Sara, yes staging will be 100% good but, when it comes to song where you literally sing 1 tone for 3 minutes live, it can just get boring, and you can’t give that dose of mystery which you have in a studio version- whereas zorjas song can just sound even better and more emotional live. And when it comes to Eurovision, we all know that it is very important to have a strong message in your song. Which Sara doesn’t have, and lyrics are very weak. Zorja was a street performer since she was 17, she sang and played violin to be able to pay for her musical academy for violin. She sings about her way from struggle, depression and hard times, to rising up to be free like a song. She sings for all the people who need support and I think people feel that emotion and empowerment in her voice. That is what I think, and whoever is objective will agree with me, but, as I said I cheer for both of them and won’t be mad for either one :) .. Also, Angellina is cute but I don’t think her song can even be compared with Zorja and Muskarcina. Btw pronunciation is ZorYa and Sara Yo 😂❤️

I have Sara Jo and Zorja way above any others from listening, and I flip back and forth as to which of the two I prefer. Zorja is more instantly grabbing, while also more traditional. Sara Jo feels much more experimental pulling in bits of pop, industrial and all sorts of things. I didn't get it on first listen but then... it starts to click.

There are too many songs that sound familiar. I get that they didn't want it to be "just an ESC selection", and they wanted to have more names and variety, but come on, 36 is way too much. They should've kept it at 24 or even reduce it to 20.

Well ESC nation selection in Serbia is kinda used as a platform for new artist to represent themselves to public. 20 of those artist are almost complitely unknown, but there are like 5 famous singers every year and its really a contest between them from the beggining

Nice review Alesia! I appreciate your effort. It sad that you did it in speed run, as you missed some finer sides of the Naiva, Gramophondzie, Zoe Kida or Biber songs. There are three main reasons for having such colossal contest. Our national broadcaster (RTS) tries to mimic real Eurovision format and to prove, to offer diversity and launchpad for younger and less known artists. One of the first Beovizija (as contest was known at the time) launched carriers of Zoe Kida and Konstrakta's band Zemlja Gruva. You've noticed the biggest problem of our musical industry - an outdated and non-inventive production. If you gave proper time to the each of the song, you would notice that many artist incorporated ethnic elements akin to Željko Joksimović "Lane". That's why songs by Biber, Zejna and Sara Jo (Sarah Yo) stands out. They offer different approach to ethnic motives, like dual voicing of Biber, bit of roma soul in Zejna and mixing čoček (cho-check) with deep electro/house by Sara (I would like if she went even deeper and darker). I'm not fan of Zorja (Zor-yah) song as it sounds like tailored for Eurovision, almost Eurovision-bingo winner. I couldn't expressed it by myself, but you nailed - the song plays safe. If she only placed some massive drop like Bojana in "Beauty never lies", which could be effective even with this level of production. Thank You, Alesia!

Angellina has got a nice voice, but she's a weak performer. I don't like the safety that goes with Zorja, so i think Sara is the best option. She can turn the party on, she's an amazing performer and i'm sur she would really stand out in Turin.

I think that Zorja's song will probably sound more impactful when she performs it live, because the instrumentals do not quite match the drama she's giving us through her vocal. (Also, she mentioned in her IG live the other night that the audio version sounds "too polished" and "flat" for some technical reasons (she said that song has many "registers", and that they needed to "compress" the sound for the audio version.). On the other hand, I think that Sara Jo's song is really great, but it becomes too repetitive at one point. The last 15 seconds of the song are EPIC and she needs to make that "wow" moment last longer. Her boyfriend is a famous Slovenian choreographer and I am pretty sure she'll deliver that choreography (though I am worried about the vocals not sounding as strong as in the audio version of the song.)

Normally, Angelina is walking around really really looking like Cher or Ofra Haza in 1974. I think that is her number one appeal here, and God I hope she plays with it on the stage. That is what she needs to deliver even more than dance.

Alesia, you can't evaluate a whole song just by listening to 5 seconds of it in a speedrun. I appreciate your musical sharpness and all but I've noticed you do that quick run-through in other react videos as well. Give them some time.. Let them sink in (maybe you don't have time but do as i do, let them run in the background while doing something around the house) maybe you're missing some parts of the song that might change your mind. Also try it without going through an existing ranked list, it will take the suggestive ranking equation off the evaluation.

I think this is an important point for discussion - Serbia holds a typical preselection for Eurovision, the goal is to go to the contest, so one would expect the songs to be competitive. It's not a music festival per se (like Sanremo, Cancao, etc). What's the point in presenting a dozen songs that wouldn't have a chance in a competition? Choosing 10-15 songs would allow the focus to be on choosing the best song for Eurovision, rather than presenting a lot of entries that wouldn't achieve much.
