I''m looking for something that doesn't have 500 sounds. Just a good sounding 88 key with USB or more. I'd like to have a built in sequencer because I'm lazy but don't want to spend much since i have enough sounds and options on my DAW. I would use the piano sounds the most and want the most realistic ones.

I had an Alesis DG8, was definitely nice, but the speakers died on me after just over a year (playing around maybe 4 hours per day). Had a technician repair it, was good for another year and a half after that until something critical failed internally, so brought it to a tech again... but Alesis at that time had already apparently discontinued the dg8, and the tech was for that reason unable to get the repair parts from alesis (they had simply dropped it and all support for it) and so-to make a long story short (too late, lol?)-I was basically SOL. While I think alesis generally make good products (I personally loved my DG8 while it worked, the 8'4 harpsichord patch was outstanding), I haven't bought anything from Alesis after that. While i understand that not all products can be supported forever, what gets me is that I had originally purchased the keyboard maybe a little over a year after it was released-it wasn't that old-so I was shocked and disappointed that support could be dropped so quickly. Hopefully things have changed since then (that was 20 years ago).

Released in the very beginning of 1998 at The NAMM show, the alesis DG8 was the last decent digital piano that Alesis made before the new ownership took over in 2002, it was a very heavy instrument, $1,000 brand new and worth every dime, the key bed was solid and felt great to play, two 50 watt speakers, a wide variety of sounds and sound editing options, they were absolutely built like tanks and tougher than a $2 steak, the church around the corner from my Grandmother's house bought a DG8 brand new in the fall of 1998 and twenty-five years later, everything on it still works just as good as it did the day they bought it, the one that you received was probably damaged in the warehouse

Hello, thank you for this very complète test. Is it a really semi weighted touch piano (between synth and a real piano ?) or like a synth piano ? What do you think about the piano acoustic sound quality ? Thank you.

What's the difference between Concert and Recital?
@Ayokan
@Ayokan 3 жыл бұрын
The recital has non weighted keys. Meaning it has no resistance to pressing it. How ever it still has touch sensitive keys. That’s why there’s a $40 price difference.

The Alesis Concert has more sounds and (I think) a better piano sample. I'm sure there's more differences but those are the ones I'm sure about!

Is there a light résistance at the touch on this piano please ?

Yes. She said they keys were semi-weighted but velocity sensitive. So, it's not too heavy but not light either. And you can play dynamically. Also, that means the keyboard is relatively light ) probably less than 10 Kg)

Don't buy semi-weighted keys as a beginner! You will never learn to play piano on a semi-weighted, it binds velocity curve to volume, so you won't learn to play piano evenly and steadily, because it randomly misinerprets the dynamics. Buy the cheapest hammer action or a used hammer action, buy a Yamaha NP-35 instead.
