Thank you so much for this review! This is exactly the kind of video I was missing! The Nitro Pro is my favorite. Despite the higher price, I think it’s better to go straight for this model. The Nitro Max also sounds great, but the Nitro Pro is definitely better, and the rack is clearly more stable and reliable. In Germany, the Nitro Pro costs €799.

€799 ($864) versus $599 in my country. The price difference is significant... Why is this kit so much more expensive in Germany?

I'm just in the early stages of research and trying to decide what might be right for me as total beginner, I don't like buying the cheapest version of things, but as beginner also don't want to spend crazy money, I think the Pro might just be the ticket. I prefer mesh heads over rubber for the more natural feel and like the extra features the Pro has over the Max. If I end up not getting into drumming after a while, it should be easy to sell without too much of a loss, and if I do get into it, it's most likely the only set I'll ever need, I just play with instruments for fun at home. Thanks for the comparison video, answers the questions I had after looking at both models.

if you play death metal or anything that requires double at high speeds DONT buy the max, here in this video the double kick sound acceptable, but if youre are playing double kick at 250 , hell even at like 190, the double kick stops responding to certain hits, and if you play heel toe, is even worse.

Hi. Thank you for the comparison. I bought Nitro Max only because, as a new drummer, the features on Nitro Max will be enough for me. Also in small flat it is easy to move and storage. For £250 more for features, what I will not use for a long time it is the best choice in my chumble opinion. Thank you.

For such a small delta in price, people should just buy the pro. And if you don’t have the budget, go for the cheaper one. But what do I know? I haven’t played the drums for almost 30 years (used to be a drum teacher and pro session musician - drums, synth, piano, vocal)

Yes you can. You have the option of the extra pad + cymbal. Or just adding some adapted cables to the module and add many cymbals or tom pads as you need...and to embelish the thing, put all this working trough a vst plugin from Mixwave and the Roland VMH-D1 headphones and you will be happy!

I hope someone answers this question but I’ve been looking into electric drum bc I’ve been playing the acoustic ones since I was little. I wanna get the Nitro Pro but I’m worried abt the drums breaking when I play. I don’t go crazy and hit them really hard but I’ve never have electric drums before. So can someone pls tell me if the Pro is a good buy and if they break easily?
@harshil6970Ай бұрын
are you talking about breaking the heads or the rack parts? i own the nitro max but ive played on the strata prime and pro as well and in terms of build quality and setup, pro and max are pretty much same tho strata prime, surge and strike pro have a steel rack the rack is aluminium but the joints and connectors are plastic; they arent that fragile but dont try to twist the joints cuz well, its plastic ofc. but overall i feel like apart from being a tad bit wobbly at first, there shouldnt be any problem in practicing with them the drum mesh heads dont break i suppose, unless something sharp strikes right through it

The Alesis Nitro Pro is better than the Nitro Max. That said, I can not really recommend it. Alesis is known to make budget friendly e-kits. They are improving some of them by coming out with a bit better Pro versions. For a first e-kit, the Nitro Pro will get you started into drumming. The problem is that the sounds are not that great. The shotgunning is very obvious. The hi-hat on the rack gives a different feel than one on a hi-hat stand. The only e-kit I can recommend from Alesis is the Strata Prime e-kit. The Strata Prime e-kit is much more like an accustic drum set than any of their others. You can have fun with a budget friendly low tier e-kit, and you can learn the basics of drumming on them. The problem is that once you become good at playing the Nitro Pro or any lower-end budget friendly e-kit, the transition to an accustic drum set or a high-end e-kit is difficult as the feel, playability, functionality, and sound are so different you will have a relearning curve. My suggestion is to not waste your money on a budget friendly e-kit as down the road you will want to spend more money on it for upgrades. I personally would just buy a higher-end e-kit that actually plays, performs, and sounds 99% just like an accustic drum set. This way, you will not need to spend extra money on upgrades or having to buy a better e-kit down the road. The other thing with learning on a high-end e-kit is that you will learn how to play a drum set properly without a relearning curve. Sadly, most drummers refer to the Nitro Pro or any lower-end budget friendly e-kit just toys of a drum set. I know, good e-kits are expensive but worth saving up for, and in the long run, it will save you money as you will not need to upgrade or buy a better kit down the road as a good high-end e-kit has everything just like an accustic drum set. I am really not sure why people are excited for upgraded versions of lower-end budget friendly e-kits when there are much better high-end ones for not much more money. In the comments, I see that people who have the Nitro Max are excited for and want the Nitro Pro. If those people just sell their Nitro Max or other lower-end e-kit and take the money they would spend on the Nitro Pro, they could actually afford a higher-end, much better e-kit. Does a guitar player first learn on a plastic toy of a guitar? Then why start learning drums on a budget friendly lower-end e-kit that will not really teach you great or proper drumming?

The problem is, the Nitro Max costs like 400€, while the Strata Prime is over 3000€. That is eight times the difference, and not everyone -- especially beginners -- can afford it.
