Just want to say thanks again for a great show and taking time for a selfie even though you were trying to pack up your gear in peace. It was really appreciated. I look forward to the new release in March and I hope this set is available on Bandcamp sooner than later. A big thanks for Strega too, an absolute gem of a machine.

It was so great to open for Alessandro and to meet the man himself. Then to go and deep dive into his setup was just 🤯 - enjoy everyone!

Hey matths, I'm wondering: you said you are sidechaining the overcompressed signal from the mscl right? But are you doing that sidechaining with the cockpit? And is it the whole mix what you are putting through that overcompression or just the harmonies?
@matthsmatthsmatths Жыл бұрын
Good question but not here. I am not using the cockpit in this case but I have done so before. It gives you much more control with the cockpit but I like the aggressiveness of the MSCL right now.@@ionianechoes

I was stoked to see you were supporting Cortini as your videos have really helped in the past. It was a great show and I really enjoyed it though admittedly I nodded off a couple of times during your set, which I blame completely on the long journey down from Wales and the Pulsar 23. I don't know what it is about Soma (and I own a Lyra 8, Pulsar 23 & Enner) but that sound created by Vlad Kreimer is so unique and fantastic but knocks me out every time. So happy to hear RELEASE live. Great interview too.

“As I’ve gotten older, I realize there are certain aspects of music making or show playing that I consider interesting but the effort, or time, that I had to dedicate to them - like visuals - didn’t lead to the excitement or the amount of quality content that I wanted.” This is what a self-aware, well-spoken, considerate (in this case, musical) genius sounds like when speaking. No wholesale judgment or dismissal. Thoughtful, personal, experience based. What a beautiful mind.

I watched Alessandro Cortini in Uppsala Sweden last month. It was an awesome piece he performed and I was very happy that he came by. Didnt get the chance to talk to him after the show but I just wanted to thank him for creating such an inspirational machine like Strega and sharing it with the rest of the world. I'm using it in pretty much every song I make and I just love it. I hope Alessandro get the chance and will to produce another semi modular synthesizer. ❤

@browe no problem my friend. These are just my thoughts though remember and they are always developing and changing. Who knows what my live set will look like next year. That's the great thing about working with electronic instruments - there is so much choice and its like you are only just ever getting started.

A really interesting interview and run down of the gear used by both artists. If I’m not mistaken the tune Matt was playing at the gig for the outro was Auditions, a superb track.

I'll be seeing Alessandro play live when he comes to Warsaw in January, I don't know if he'll play the same set-up as talked about here, but whatever he plays I'm really, really looking forward to it 😋 I also love how he's always so open to describe and explain his techniques and equipment, he doesn't hide behind any smoke and mirrors, he simply talks freely and enthusiastically about his process, and he always comes across as a deeply lovely dude, in every single interview 👏 A nice shout-out to Hainbach too, someone else who's always so open to explaining what he's doing and how he's doing it; I've seen him play, and chatted with him, 3 times now and each time at the end of his set he's stayed to answer any and all questions that people may have had. He is, along with Alessandro, a natural communicator and teacher 👏👍 Hmmm, a Hainbach / Alessandro Cortini double bill would be epic 🤯

Interesting, but it would have been nice to see (a little) an example of Alessandro's music using this setup - so we can see/hear what he's talking about.

nah dude, he had to get a tooth capped and it's actually cheaper to get metal than a natural looking one and they last longer. who knows what kind of insurance some of these musicians have, if any at all, being they have to pay it all themselves? he probably has to pay for most dental stuff out of pocket.
