Man I wish this song was made 10 years ago when I was 14 and in high school. At the time I was cutting/burning myself everyday for months and I had an eating disorder for years. I know hearing this song back them would have helped me so much and given me hope. It's a beautiful song, as is every song she's released so far.

I am insecure. I am not confident. I am doomed with mild anxiety. I hate the mirror. I hate photographs of me. I was bullied twice in less than two years. I am not beautiful. I've been listening to this song since it came out years ago. I was confident and secure singing the lyrics at 10. Even at 11 I was happily singing along. At 12 and 13 I was still as secure and confident as could be. At 14 I was bullied for my weight, body, friends, and was introduced to "fake friends" and "mean girls". To all you girls living in the now with so much emphasis on "cosmopolitan looks" let me tell you all that no matter how attractive you are, this life with the onset of bullying and the world's expectation of a pristine life of all things "scarless", YOUR SCARS ARE BEAUTIFUL. And if you don't have any scars right now, count your blessings because you will. This world will cut and slice you without mercy BUT AGAIN YOUR SCARS ARE BEAUTIFUL.....there is no lady in this world who is not beautiful to God, who helped me love my wife more after her debilitating stroke (and no ability to physically show that love mind you) than ever before. My scars softened me enough for God to show me His love for you all.... and it is amazing. Girls and women are little understood by the male contingent because we're also wounded and scarred by this world....we just don't know how to handle it which is why we can't show it and empathize. I was an above average athlete in high school and college caught up in all the pretensions of the world but a scared little boy inside and needed to be cut, pummeled, and afflicted to the bone to see clearly. But God picked me up, dusted me off, and showed me the unfathomable beauty of His female creation which He instilled every bit of beauty and sensitivity that so many of us males have taken for granted and ruined with our own callous insecurities.

I was diagnosed with an eating disorder about 2 years ago. for about one year I struggled with eating each day. I was moved into an outpatient program where I would do my schooling and eating there. It was going ok but then it went downhill. I stopped eating altogether. I was taken to emerg one night because I hadn't eaten that day. A few days later I was taken into a hospital as an impatient. This meant that I would be living there until I was healthy again. When I was admitted into he hospital I still couldn't eat. It hurt too much. They then put a tube down my nose into my stomach. I had that tube for about 1 month. That was how I would eat. I threw up a lot. I was originally at north York hospital. But then moved to sick kids because I was not improving. At sick kids I got a few home passes and started getting better. I still remember the Morning when they told me I could go home. A huge smile can across my face. I'm not saying it got 100% better from that point. I still had to eat and deal with my anxiety. But I am now laying in my bed writing this. I am doing better. I still am on anxiety meds and have cut a while back. But I just wanted to share my story and show you that recover is possible. I am living proof.
