I love the concept of buying m3's with heritage and history, that car has a fabulous livery, very eye catching , I've never seen it before myself and getting a passenger lap for what amounts to cost price is a bargain and it's original driver thrown in for the price just knocks it out of the park . Robert is a gentleman on the outside and a business assassin on the inside, a winning combo there me thinks, nicely done fellas. !!

In this day and age an 'analog' car like this E36 is such a unicorn when it comes to PURE driving experience. Nothing like sweaty palms and arms feeling like a workout after 10-15 min. And yes, BMW biggest mistake was getting rid of their glorious inline 6's. At least audi keeping it real with the rs3 (-1 cyl). Great vid. Misha, when are you coming state-side to ride the "Tail of the dragon?"

Nice addition to the Apex crew, both car and driver. Looked like he will take some time getting use to being put on video. Really like Roberts view on car collecting. Cars that have been there, done that, can still and will continue to do so. Not museum pieces, which have their place as well. But well done examples. Good choice! One of the M3s that gave me the biggest smile was the 2004 CSL, in rather a cool gray. I stepped out of a Gallardo and into the M3 CSL and I was delighted by the throttle response.

Alex's E36 is so much quieter than Tim's E36, it can be better daily despite both isn't anywhere near a daily... also, BMW's NA straight-6 sounds so good, but even turbocharged M50 sounds really good!

Agree, smart proven cost effective upgrades, and the main focus is weight reduction. Loose the weight and the car becomes faster everywhere, + every part last longer - pads, tires, clutch, axles etc. Add power and car only becomes faster on the straight line, + every part gets stressed more and wears out quicker.

I got a question on this old vid and Alex's car. I notice the tyres seem to be slightly wider than the rim, giving the small bulge effect. I was always under the impression that would cause alot of sidewall flex. I know it depends on the tyre aswell but is it really such a big issue to fit 225-45-17 on for example a 7J?

Don’t forget Mercedes also had killer inline 6 cyl engines with single or double overhead cam set ups. I grew up driving those cars. They screamed in Germany with hotter cams better compression n good gas. You almost forget about them mercedes got rid of them long ago BMW kept them around longer
