I just want to leave it here. So, what i want to say, is that i needed this game more than anything else in my life. And i didn't even know. I saw screenshots, i saw gameplay. But when I lanched the game myself, I understood that i'm in love with it. I was reading every dialogue, I didn't wake up Mae and let her sleep for a minute or two, just listening to music. Possum Springs is just a place u want to comeback to. I have all achievements now, and i'm just visiting Mae sometimes, walking through the town. I'm remembering emotions I had during the game while music plays. With it, I can somehow feel them again, like in the first time. I was happy to see smile on Mae's face, I was worried for her in the end like hell, and I was so glad that in the end it all was good for her and her friends. It's amazing. It's really amazing game. Small world that people created, and that I believe now lives by itself. One of my friend let me play the game on his account, and I bought it just to thank the devs. And, that's it. Gregg rulz ok

Weird to see people still commenting on this(and other NITW videos that are 5-6 years old), but I haven't left my mark when I finished the game 5 years ago, so I'll do that now. NITW really helped me in a... Quite dark moment of my life. I've struggled with quite a mixture of things, including being expelled from my university and having a relatable character like Mae helped me a lot with getting through decent bit of mental and physical problems back in the day. Life still isn't great, don't get me wrong, but... Well, at the end of everything, hold onto anything.

Alec actually inspires me to keep holding on, even at the end of everything. He was betrayed by his friends and family for a vindictive liar, lost his career and will to live, and we were too far from his personal life to help. Seeing all these supporters lets me know that there is reward in the joy you give to others, and that it is imperative to keep holding on, as there is still a chance you can make things better for someone else, if not yourself. Just imagine what Alec could have done for everyone if he kept holding on. While his potential is lost, our potential is truly expansive. To anyone reading this: *At the end of everything, hold on to anything.* You'd be surprised how much good you can still do out there.

Cyber Byte I relate with you so much. For me, Alec like anyone else was human with flaws but that’s okay. He was truly wonderful and inspirational, nonetheless. I just learned of his passing last week (been out of the loop with social media) and was shocked. But I figured we could carry his legacy too of being something someone can hold onto when they feel it’s the end. Only wish Alec had that.

I was a kid when Longest night came out, I was so mystified by the music and I loved the story. I never really did much, I wasn't allowed out, and what I had inside wasn't much to do with so I always used my imagination. Alec's music reminds me of the things I would make up in my mind, I couldnt quite comprehend what I imagined to make it real, but this is like listening to it, those nights feeling alone and spending it up wishing I was looking up at stars. I'm older now, I have actual friends, I can do more than I could as a child, and I'm grasping the thoughts I have to make them real. I always wanted to meet Alec but its clear that will never happen. Alec, if you're listening somewhere out there, you were a huge influence on my teen years, and made me grow passionate to learn music and follow my dreams. Thank you Alec, I hope you rest in peace.

I wanna clarify, god of randomness and luke fraczek, there were a number of different people who came forward and said that alec had effectively abused them due to his fragile mental state, fits of aggression, and overall unstable attitude. After his mental state recovered, people felt more comfortable coming forward to talk about how they had felt when working with alec, and the whole thing blew up. Don't pin the blame on any person. Mental health is the only enemy here, and abusing someone else back won't help anyone. The best thing we can do to honor his memory is to be a good friend, to care for people, to never abuse others, and to be something someone can hold onto at the end of everything.

@watashi unfortunately a lot of people came forward about Alec's treatment towards them. He had been in dire straits for a long time, and his fits of aggression and feelings of paranoia led him to do a lot of regrettable things. But it's important that we not see any person as bad or good. The enemy is mental illness, no matter what. We fight it by spreading love and compassion and friendship, that's the only way we can honor his legacy.

I know that this comment is late, but I feel like I should express my thoughts here. This game means so much to me and so many others who’ve played it. It holds a special place in my heart and I’m glad that it’s getting the recognition that it deserves. On the subject of “Longest Night,” it reminds me of the moment with Angus and Mae when they were stargazing, and I feel like that moment was put in there to teach us something. In my opinion, that moment taught us that it’s okay to express our feelings and thoughts to someone, since Angus told Mae about his family and he’s kept that to a minimum so far. Rest In peace, Alec. Thank you for your work on this amazing game, and you will not be forgotten.

To the two replies on this thread, I want to say something. Don't confuse getting what you want with getting even. Alec was hurt by mental health conditions, and while the immediate spark of his worsening condition was people coming forward about abuse, exacting vengeance on them isn't what he would have wanted. He said himself not to blame anybody, and we should honor that. The enemy is mental illness, and abusing and punishing other people for talking about their traumatic experiences won't solve the problem.

This is an incredible song! It's so soft and gentle, like you look up at the night sky and watch the moon shine down, lighting up everything with this music playing in the background.......... Wow, That was weird haha!

@@justadam7369 feeling emotion isn't a counterpoint to being a man. A healthy display of emotion makes you more healthy, and lowers the risk of mental health. The best way to honor the memory of Alec Holowka is to fight against mental illness, by being a good friend, by being a caring person, by experiencing emotion, by being something to hold on to at the end of everything. For all I care, my shit can fall apart.

It gives comfort, yet makes you cry. It gives you light, and shatters it. It makes you lave it, and wish it was never made at the same time. It is a huge wad of emotions.

Maybe not an alarm, more like a lullaby, that wouldn't be too misplaced in a modded music box.
