Thanks I remembered the 'unicorn and the wasp' kiss a few hours after posting that, but I decided it didn't really count. I think Alex Kingston's point was that he wasn't usualy physically involved with his companions, and that still stands. He tried to keep Rose's love unrequited because of the human/timelord ageing gap. The kiss with Donna wasn't romantic. She did it because he needed a shock. It wouldn't have worked if it was something they'd both been wanting.

Heh - the Doctor's first on screen snog was Paul McGann's 8th Doctor with Grace Holloway. The Doctor's second on screen kiss was Eccleston's 9th Doctor - with Captain Jack Harkness! (See new series season 1 - The Parting of the Ways). Poor Rose was only number three (later in the same episode). Then David Tennant just went for it with everyone! Well, now the Doctor is a married man. William Hartnell's Doctor almost got married in The Aztecs, but there was no snogging in that story.

the doctor had kissed people before this but not really in the same way as that kiss with river because it was fully born out of their feelings for each other whereas previous kisses always had something else going on or other complicating factors (obviously nine and rose had feelings for each other but their kiss was just as much him saving her as it was because of their feelings, jack’s was just his way of saying goodbye, etc.)

River has Amy and Roary's DNA, not the Doctor's. If you'd pay attention, you'd know the Tardis is a living thing, a soul in a machine, and has nothing to do with the Doctor's DNA. The reason River is part Time-Lord, is because she was conceived in the Tardis while it traveled through the time vortex. But that didn't make her part Time-Lord, no, that gave her the potential to become part Time-Lord. The Silence then took her, and tried to turn her into a Human-Time-Lord-Doctor-Killer. No incest.
