Rush = 3 of the greatest musicians, but friends first. And that is why they stood the test of time. Alex and Rush are so unique in every way. He will always be my favorite guitarist and Rush will always be my favorite band. They brought a lot of joy to my life for the last 40 years.

You are absolutely spot on. Neil Peart once said that if any one of them was less humored or different in any way it would not have worked, so in a way we have a miracle.
It's so refreshing to hear an interview that has no cliche answers, instead being 100% honest. Props to Alex and the interviewer both 👍👍👍👍👍

Wonderful interview! It’s so great to hear his newfound enthusiasm for his craft. He and Geddy have been through so much lately (and of course Neil himself), but I’m glad to see he’s reinvigorated and starting new chapters of his already well-lived life. What I love most about all of the Rush guys is that there seems to be no pretense or airs; they’re just truly nice people.

Being a bass player myself since the late 80’s, my first impressions of Rush above anything was Geddy’s killer tone and bass lines but ultimately it was the songs and the trio as a whole that quickly blew my mind. Fast forward 25 years after I was first introduced to the band in 1990 as a teenager, my son who has autism and was extremely sensory as a youngster, connected so deeply with Rush’s music. Because Iof my son’s love of Rush, I had a resurgence of interest in their huge back catalogue and it was during this time I had an epiphany around Alex Lifeson’s genius as a guitarist that I missed when I first got into the band. His versatility as a musician throughout Rush’s ever-changing approach to songwriting is what stands out to me the most decades latter. He reinvented his style and influence in the band time and again and out of the three members was easily the most versatile in his approach to the changing direction the band took from the 1970’s to the 80’s. He literally was a different player between those two first decades. His influence on the guitarists who followed in his footsteps can’t be measured. The love how he puts his friendship with Geddy above the music!

I skipped out first time I saw Envy of None, I even got a response from the young lady lead singer. She told me that not all are fans of this music because they associate Alex with Rush so she understood my hesitancy to listen to the album and added that maybe in time I would at least listen once. Well now, as time has passed, I will have a listen. I do miss them(RUSH)so much but with every passing day it does become easier. TY Alex for your continuous support of artists and I do look forward to your new world projects.

I saw Alex Lifeson recently auctioned off most of his guitar collection for charity. It must have been very hard for him to let go of those sentimental guitars but it just goes to show what a world-class person he is.

He's got 63 guitars he's auctioning then 30 at various places like his warehouse and studio, but behind him I count at least 16. I don't think he's in any need of more but if what he says at 6:15 is correct selling a house would let him buy anything he might need gear wise going forward. I'm sure he will have no trouble at all. Not to mention royalty residuals from Rush reissue releases.

I do recall a recent documentary where Alex and Geddy mentioned taking it all in at their last show. Geddy wanting to stay in his mode and not wanting to get emotional. Alex noticing everything one last time from the fans to the lights. Neil always a professional to the end but wanted to do something he’d never done and take pictures plus to go in front of the drums and take a bow with his brothers. Such a special band for me and saw them in Corpus Christi Tx at 16 and lastly in Houston at age of 55. What a journey it was for me and my favorite band of all time.

To the last point Mr Lifeson made: pretty safe to say that no matter how people feel about the music, Rush will go down as one of the most professional rock bands ever. They all had the discipline of classical musicians, never let their egos get involved and were just kind, grateful dudes. When other rock stars were trashing hotel rooms and playing with groupies, Rush was back at the hotel room reading, joking around over cards and talking on the phone with their wives lol
