@172Break I never actually thought of layering massive with FM8, I must try that. I'm running logic at the moment man, so i have plenty to work with and i shouldn't really have a problem gettin things to fit together. haha thanks man, goin to be puttin more up soon! focusing on producing so much I haven't had time to do any covers.

Like others have pointed out: you can sample small parts without getting in to trouble. I'm fairly sure it's up to 6 or 7 seconds, also it can't be an essential part of the track you're sampling, so you can't sample a full melody without adding something yourself...

@rolandbudin11 жыл бұрын
You can do anything you want, filter and cut the sample as much you want BUT as soon the copyright owner of the original recognizes his sample you can be sued if you do not have legal rights or written permission to use it. Most samples Alex Metric uses in his video are very much recognizable.

Ok, I'm not quite sure what you want me to show with this video. A lot of sampling of other peoples work used to produce new songs. Do you want to say its legal? (I mean it is if they got a written permission to use those samples) Or do you want to say that everybody does it so it does not matter to be legal? I'm really interested about your opinion. If you can convince me that this is legal - please do it. I would like to "legally" use some samples on my own. :)

I was thinking that also, its not good practice to make use of lower quality samples. I mean hes making use of a 16-bit lossy sample inside a probable 24-bit mix/master. Sure he may not hear the difference, but with studio monitors he should show how bad it sounds. It would of been better to get a lossless version of that sample.

@deptofsfelt there is a vst by ni called massive and i can promise you if you looked at a skrillex session it would be on at least ten channels, prob more, skrillex sound = massive
@dangrigs11 жыл бұрын
I really don't know where you're getting that. Analog sounds way better than digital. Most pro studios nowadays even run their digital stuff through analog tubes in the aftermath to warm up the sound. I suggest you look more into this. Think of a VST Guitar / vs a real Guitar. Which one would you rather record? hmmm...
@GeryRydell11 жыл бұрын
I'm just wondering how these guys get the "rights" to release sampled stuff... Normally if a big label recognize you sample a track from their stock you'll be screwed faster than light....

uhmmm,...what about legal issues with such wild sampling of old tracks ?
@rolandbudin11 жыл бұрын
Im fascinated with comments and how many commenters do not even worry about the legallity od sampling. I would not ageee that no one cares about sampling. I experienced it myself when I was using totally legal samples that someone thought they are not legal. Nothing helped me to prove legallity and the sonf was pulled down from any online service I uploaded. If you sample other authors music, you are risking to have enormous trouble mostly with companies that are financially stronger than you.

@dangrigs11 жыл бұрын
Nah man, you're making too many assumptions. Samples aren't used due to audience expectations. I know no clue where you get your ideas. But you might just be confusing a lot of people here. A lot of the highest paid DJ's out there rely heavily off created, synthesized, or recorded sound. By the way if you record guitar, and then cut it in production, that's considered you "sampling" yourself. Ie, you are creating AND sampling, this happens a lot,
