I think he was the original author of the track and then hit up Eddie to make a remix that ended up as the official release. That happens all the time ;)

He had the connection with the singer. Could be he wrote the lyrics. Also, EM was a huge name at the time, so he was able to push the single harder to make it a commercial succes!

Portishead: Over, Silence, Threads, Magic Doors, Plastic, Numb, Small, Humming, All Mine, It's a Fire, Cowboys, Elysium, Seven Months, Only You, It could be Sweet, I'm running out of room so I'll stop!! It's seriously not that hard to keep in time. As for time itself, there are NO restrictions. Delia Derbyshire herself used a 4 track reel-to-reel technique to create "Way Out" in 11/8. Fever Ray's Concrete Walls is in 10/4, & The Terminator Theme is a polyrhythm between meters in a 13/8 cycle.

get to the point of where? two chord progressions?
@goemon411 жыл бұрын
Strict timing was only done because back when drum machines became cheap enough for normal folk to afford all you could do was program perfectly timed beats because they were meant to accompany live musicians for practicing purposes. (Quantization did not exist.) Same with the infamous 303 for basslines. The technology was limited and the sound stuck and was imitated. It was never intentional. Quantization is completely different! :) And kraftwerk perform their drums typically, hence the sound.

@Guilherme-md7vw8 жыл бұрын
possibly referencing ... a lot of producers who mix and master their stuff have, besides their pro monitors/headpones, a bunch of other regular stuff that they predict people will use to hear their tracks (shitty speakers, iphone headphones, beats headphones, etc). the reason behind this is to know if the frequencies they are hearing in their 5K USD monitors will translate well into cheaper things (i.e: will my sub bass cut through laptop speakers?)
@waterdragonsage84608 жыл бұрын
Well if that's the case then its fine, I use 2$ ear buds alongside my jbls and dt770s sometimes too. Surprisingly this method does work and it can show you a lot of things about your mix.

I agree with the fact that the quality of music has gone down dramatically. Thats the main reason why I hardly ever listen to the radio when driving because of how annoying todays producers are. My point is, fantastic music can be made from using Midi. Go look up Daniel James on here and he only uses midi and his pieces are beautiful. But in all, we do have some work to do on regaining the quality we once had.
