She's 34, it's time for the USWNT to make the tough decision to move on and develop younger talent over the next cycle. Younger players would benefit more from getting the experience playing in the Olympics and other competitions. It makes no sense to keep Alex Morgan on the team for the next cycle since she will be 38 at the time of the next World Cup. It sounds cruel, but it's the harsh reality.

There were very important pieces missing from this WC team that people forget weren't available. Mallory Swanson was injured and didn't play. Alex in the past always teamed well with Mallory. A huge loss. Also Sam Mewis was injured and did not play. I don't think their midfield had a true play making passer to replace Sam. I personally feel they win it all with those two added to the team. I felt Mallory and Sam were irreplaceable.

This will be an unpopular opinion but she needs to go be a wife and a mother. That was important enough for her to interrupt her soccer career and it now shows in her play. She's always been a bit of a flopper with regards to fouls, but I think the change is more just general aging. She lost something after her injury leading into 2015, but regained her form in a big way over the next few years (2016 being one of her most prolific scoring years.) It only really trailed off noticeably over the past two years, where she really hasn't scored much at all.

There was 30 mins extra time added and neither team can do anything. It's not like they jump right to penalty kick. Penalties isn't "pure luck" if physicality can't decide the winner then it's the mental factor, physical fitness of players, and their abilities to remain calm under pressure that would. And your definition of luck is completely off. If a player missed the shot it's not from luck. They just simply didn't take a good shot plain and simple. If you want a pure luck way to decide a winner, try a coin toss. Then you would have a legitimate reason to be complaining about the rule

The swedes spent three quarters of the match in defense grouped like six feet tall quails in the rectangle. This is really unfair, the last winning penalty was a joke and shouldn't have been given.
