I have a theory. I believe alex was genuinely humbled by the fact that hill wanted his signiture and the gentle interations they had prior to the faceoffs. I believe the head shake was in disbelief of how hill came off as a nice guy days before, and then in the press conference and face off was disrespectful. I could see alex get a little teary eyed, must have hurt knowing someone seemingly so nice could switch up on you so fast. Perhaps it even reminded alex of how izzy was nice in similar ways at first and then turned out to be disrespectful later on.
